That was a great game...19-12 Comets...too bad Smith went out early, would have like to see him play. Eli was worth making the 2 hr trek. Kids a beast. PM played very well but made many mistakes/penalties. They won't be able to play like that in post season. With 20 Seniors, it's win or bust for them...LV has a young team with many returning players for next year. http://www.westernpafootball.net/news/penns-manor-drives-to-heritage-conference-title-with-19-12-win/

I was basically referring to the fact that this is "the" year for PM to advance with all those seniors..next year won't be so kindWhiteOwl wrote:Well BillMurray its win or bust with any team in the post season. Just sayin!

PM is a very good team, but they need to stay away from Westmont in week one or its over. Westmont is just too big up front for them to handle.

I very rarely post on this site but I thought it was important to mention a couple things about the game the other night. First, no matter what anyone thinks of Roger Beitel - He truly showed and demonstrated how much he cares about his kids and their future during this high profile game. Roger Beitel made the decision himself to pull Collin Smith just a couple plays after he took a Targeting Foul - Head to Head - late in the first quarter. Knowing the type of game this was and what was at stake, he chose to make sure that no further harm would occur to his starting QB/S. Some of you might go on and say..."who cares" - "one kid is not going to make a difference"...but most of the posters on this site know that pulling your starting QB/S who has contributed to 28 TD's and has been offered a full scholarship to play Safety at the D1 level that early in a game could have a significant impact. This is a perfect example of how a High School Head Football Coach puts his players safety first and truly cares about them as young athletes! Second... Hats off to both teams, Penns Manor and Ligonier Valley. This was a great game to watch and the atmosphere was amazing! Both teams fought very hard! When I looked out on the field from the stands and saw that Ligonier only starts one Senior at TB and the rest of the offense and defense were Sophomores, Juniors, and Freshmen...they should have a bright future! Good Luck to both teams for the remainder of their seasons and the playoffs!!

If it was a head to head or showed any signs of a concussion then the trainer needs to pull him off and check him out. A coach should aslo know to not put him back in until he is cleared. If he had been cleared to play then he should be playing.

I am no fan of Beitel, but I agree with you. Not all coaches would have done the same thing. Also, he did not make any excuses after the the game was over. And yes LV should have a bright future, especially playing in the Heritage. If the new classifications take place next year, I believe the LV will bump up to AAA. A couple of Heritage teams will move to AA and the remainder will stay A.

I am one of the few realistic Ram fans... I said I thought the Comets were going to win before the game. I also don't always agree with everything Beitel says and does. However, Beitel should be commended for his actions during, and after this game. I would go so far as to say most coaches probably wouldn't have held their superstar out of the game. So in this instance he should be commended. He was even complimentary to Penns Manor after the game and didn't make any excuses that I saw. It was a great game and Ligonier definitely has a bright future...

As far as it being a great game to watch, I agree, but as for the atmosphere...I have to disagree. Being one of the people in the band that was booed at by LV students for just marching in and then being jeered at later on, it was not a good experience on my end. Otherwise, I would totally agree. This was "The Game" for us, and I had been looking forward to it for a couple weeks before it actually came. Congrats to PM football team and to Ligonier as well, this was a game tough played.SHS19 wrote:I very rarely post on this site but I thought it was important to mention a couple things about the game the other night.
