Mountain League Week 9
Bellefonte(2-6) @ Chestnut Ridge(5-3)
Not alot on the line in New Paris this week, Chestnut Ridge is always in, Bellefonte dropped out of the AAA race along time ago. For the second consecutive week the Red Raiders make the trip down I 99 hoping for different result from a week ago. Look for this game to be rough early with Bellefonte hanging in until half time. That seems to be the story of their year. If they can get some big plays from Austin Jackson, they will make it interesting. The defense just needs to keep the pressure on the young Lion team, and wait for Shoemaker to gamble.
Penns Valley (2-6) @ Tyrone (6-2)
The Rams make the trip to Grey Field with upset on their mind. Tyrone struggled with a 2 win team last week in Mill Hall. I don't see the Rams having the personel to do the same. Tyrone eyes the #2 seed in AA and this is just another step in getting it.
Clearfield (7-1) @ Philipsburg-Osceola(0-8)
Clearfield is the league champion and I see no way for the Mounties to break the 25 game losing streak in this one.
Bald Eagle Area (1-7) @ Jersey Shore(6-2)
After dropping a tough one to the rival Seals last week, the Bulldogs are looking to get back on track. In comes the Eagles of Bald Eagle. After the Stampede last week they are just looking to get to the end of the schedule. With the performance that they have had the past 2 years, it will be an interesting offseason for Coach Ron Hoover. This may be a team looking to go a different direction, they have stuggled on offense and have a very pourous defense despite some promising talent along the line. Speed has killed this team but so has strategy.
Game of the Week
Huntingdon(5-3) @ Central (7-1)
The Dragons have been cruising for most of the season. Huntingdon on the other hand has scraped its way to a playoff spot and looking to improve their position in the standing. They make their way to the Cove for a big game on both sides. The smell lofting from McKee should make it harder to breath than Josh Fye sitting on your chest. Special Teams will be a real factor in this one. Huntingdon is used to getting production from Wagner in the return game. If they can make some plays here, they can keep it close for awhile. The secondary is succeptable to the pass, and thats what the Dragons do, look for the Bearcats to try and play keep away with their vast stable of running backs.
