LHAC defensive mvp

Post by youngbuck »

Offensive Mvp has lead to some good conversation, what are anyone thoughts defensively.   As already discussed on the board, tackle #s seem to be quite inaccurate, so that should not be the only criteria.

I did a little BG/Bedford research today. This is more team outlook than individual.

Total yards given up. Rushing and Rec of the common opponents they have played thus far.

Bedford has given up roughly 160 less yards against the 8 common opponents. FH and Somerset are not included as they play those teams this weekend.

J- town BG gave up 70 less yards then Bed
BM BG gave up 60 more yards then Bed
CH BG gave up 20 less yards then Bed
BC BG gave up 20 more yards then Bed
PC BG gave up 80 less
WH BG gave up 120 more
Rich BG gave up 140 more
CC BG gave up 10 less

Sacks BG has 24 on the year, Bedford 39

INT's BG has 7 on the year Bedford has 9

You have missed the obvious flaw in your research. The BG starters are only in for the first 3 minutes of each game. They are mostly on the field for the coin toss. Opponents have -453 yards against these starters. All yardage gained has been against the backups. Whereas Bedford leaves their starters in the entire game. They never sub in players early.

I say it all the time, stats are but a small frame in a big picture.  The best lineman in the world may only have half the tackles of many others because he plays for the best team.  Same goes for QB and such.
