I don't see any of them making progress. Bellefonte needs to change the offensive scheme they have athletes but not to run that offense week in and out successfully. Now Central and Clearfield have a lot leaving this year so maybe mt. league will be more competitive.

Was there any talk of Hollidaysburg entering the Mountain League? I understand they are playing an independent schedule in football next year as a result of leaving the WPIAL. If they need another team, why not get Chestnut Ridge in as well, and make it a ten-team league? Certainly, Hollidaysburg is a larger school, and I understand some of the concerns the smaller schools may have in playing them annually, but wouldn't that be one heck of a local league with ten teams?

That is a great question. Seeing all three teams play this year I do not know for sure. Between the 3 BEA and PV have the best chance to be better than they were this year but sustaining it will be the issue. For PO's sake I can only hope they win a game or two next year, being competitive would be great for their community and the Mtn League in general. Only time can tell.

It would make sense but we are talking public school districts; so throw common sense out the window!

Goldeneagles12 how is Tyrone going to look next year? I also thought Clearfield will get back their QB and WR, as I thought both were only Juniors?

Bellefonte lost a lot of athletes to soccer in the last 3 years partially as the result of the Wynkoop/Besch years, but Manning is making steady progress.  They lose a lot on offense from this year though.

I hope P-O can turn things around, but that will be a long term project.  BEA is trending down and PV is treading water.  I don't know how Tobias gets a free pass every year.  I did not understand why they moved Alexander out to WR this year.  He was their best athlete by far.  Get the ball in his hands!  PV would be better off back in the ICC for football.

Take a look at this:

Mountain League North Division
Bald Eagle Area
Philipsburg
Penns Valley
Bellefonte
Clearfield

Mountain League South Division
Huntingdon
Hollidaysburg
Central
Tyrone
Chestnut Ridge

Each team would play all others teams in their division each year, and maybe rotate 3 or 4 cross-divisional games from year to year.  This way, teams could maintain any out of league rivalry games, like the Tyrone-Bellwood Backyard Brawl.

You could have 7, 8, or even 9 league games each year, depending on the amount the league decided.

I have always wondered the same thing with Tobias at PV? He has been there a while now and they have really done nothing under his watch. Not to say they have had great talent either but still most coaches in a similar situation would be booed out of town.

World Traveler, that does look pretty reasonable and similar to how the league was set up a few years ago when St Marys and other teams were also members.

I know Lezzer the wr is a junior but I'm pretty sure the qb is senior. At that game I over heard a Clearfield fan say they will be hurting the next few years. Tyrone will be good most skill players were underclassmen we had 7 seniors that started.
