Yes, birda, I agree. It is much better to be named the A.5 champ than come in third place in AA. Or be the AAAAA champ instead of being the second best team in AAAA.

I graduated at a time when there was no such thing as a state champ. You played your season, four teams made it to districts and football season was over before Thanksgiving.

And now we have all these older dudes who make claims that their team was good enough to win a state championship had they been played in the day.

We didn't need to have a state championship game to measure our worth back then. You competed week in and week out, you went 4-5 or 7-2 and then you went to basketball practice.

I agree, it is kind of absurd that football is being played in December.

that was the original plan, a move up clause, but many thought that was too much change at once...the idea isn't dead.
I can see the good and bad in that plan, the bad being if I were a fan of the school that one the championships and got moved up a class :)

I think for next year we just need to let it play out as it is, not try to make to many changes all at once. Once we see how it goes then they can make the changes to improve on the system. I like the idea of a team moving up to the next level. I would say that after 2 years of making the quarter finals you would have to move up and if after 2 years you dont make the playoffs then you could move back down.

So what does Bedford do being only AAA team in district 5? Do they just go to D6 AAA like somerset did and be the 10th team or do they join a sub-region with D9 and D10?

So now you have District 6 AA on Friday night and A on Saturday night. Next year how do you split the A AA and AAA at mansion over one weekend or where would the other championship be held. Also, now the top 8 make it to playoffs. A next year that would work but AAA has 9 teams in District 6...so only one team will be left out? Or how is all of this going to shape out?

My guess is D6 would have to provide their AAA team a week earlier than the others, so a four team playoffs. But you could always play Friday night/Saturday afternoon/Saturday night.
