Steelers/Broncos

Post by 223113 »

Watching the "experts" on various ESPN shows, and reading numerous articles online, and in the papers, I haven't heard/seen a whole lot of talk about the Steelers Defense.
I believe the Steelers Defensive play will determine today's winner. If they play like they did in the 2nd half of the 1st Broncos game, and in the 1st half of last week's game vs CIN,....for the whole game today, Steelers win.
Also, of all the "expert" predictions I've heard, I only saw 1 person say the Steelers can win,...and that was qualified with, "if Ben plays". Michael Irvin.
In 1974, I was only 9 years old, but I clearly recall the Super Bowl IX pregame predictions of Brent Musberger (sp?), Phyllis George, and Irv Cross...and everyone else for that matter. All picked the Vikings. Steelers held Vikes to like 17 yds rushing and won 16-6.
I know these aren't THOSE Steelers, but they've shown spurts of Excellence. That's what it'll take today.
Time to stand up for 60 min Defense.

Each team has pretty much the same 3 goals this game.

1. Get a running game going
2. Play solid pass defense
3. Dont overuse your banged up QB

Like these teams are in similar positions but denver is just healthier. If there is ever a QB though that can have a favre like performance while injured its big ben

That's too bad....the fumble on what appeared to be a deal-sealing drive,....was a back breaker.
Oh well, already looking forward to next year. Proud to call myself a Steelers fan.

Definitely can't be mad at this loss. All the injuries that we have had all season long, and we still made it further than we have in a while

For a season where bell missed almost all of it. And ben missed a few games and our kicker problem to start ending up 11-7 was great.

The steelers were tempting a bad turnover too many times and the fumble definitely swung the game to denver! Props to that team as they deserve to win.

Now coming back, pittsburgh might be an early favorite. Bell, Ben and Brown were scary before. Now add in the new core around and a solid OLine they will be scary.

Defensively the team played well. Linebackers and dbacks progressed a lot and that dline will be solid next year.

Way too early prediction for regular season next year, 14-2

Rookies make mistakes. That's over now. How many of Manning's passes were dropped? This could have been a huge blowout, but like 223113 alluded to in his OP, the defense kept us in it to that point where the offense has to take over, and pardon the obvious they fumbled the ball. Sammy Coates is going to be a beast. 84, 10, 11, & Coates- no one has a receiving corps like that. And throw in 3 capable TE's, a healthy Bell & DeAW, Pouncey and healthy others, whew! Impressive is an understatement. Maybe they'll achieve enough to make folks think Tomlin really can coach at a top level.
It ain't over until it's over.
