I own guns. I hunt. But it makes absolutely zero sense to give a kid a gun at a school sanctioned event. But if you must know, I still plan on writing in Marco Rubio. Cruz, Trump, Clinton are all crazy.
Re: Hats off to District 5 this season
There was a time when you could take your bow to school, teacher/principals could paddle students, and kids actually listened to adults while being respectful....Now it's the teacher's fault when the kid doesn't do homework and discipline means being sent home.

I get that. That was the era I went to school in. But times change. There's no reason a school should be handing out guns to kids in 2016. None.
Re: Hats off to District 5 this season
They're not handing them Colt 1911's once they get off the bus. They're given .22 rifles with peep sights at indoor shooting facilities. This is not unreasonable by any means.

True or False? You can injure or possibly kill someone with a .22?

Yes, you can kill someone with a .22 round, but I bet if you look at incidents across the country involving accidents with rifle teams you wont find many. I'm sure there's more injuries and deaths caused by discus and javelin than the rifle team. These kids are under supervision. I think it's pretty much a non-issue. My point is, these kids aren't shooting on site at the school. If these kids get together on a weekend to go shoot clay pigeons, should we all be worried that they're going to kill everyone...no. The fact that these kids are actually participating in an organized activity and not sitting at home playing video games is great. Put your kid in their protective bubble wrap suit and send them to school.

And most states have switched over to air rifles. "The CMP reported the injury rate for air rifle marksmanship is about 0.0017 per athletic exposure per year. Amid all the issues surrounding gun control, competitive youth riflery is “a nonissue,” said Ladd Everitt, director of communications with the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence.

I'd say the students on the rifle team are more likely to injure themselves/others on a set of stairs.
This is so far off topic, but I find it laughable. This is why most schools can't play dodge ball anymore.
I'm a football fan, and I'd bet you anything that more kids are hurt in football, soccer, wrestling, cheerleading, basketball, softball, and track and field than in rifle.

Why isn't the 'thumbs' up like feature working?
