Re: BG girls
BG girls have fabulous players. Players ready to play from great personal off season training and aau. The problem is not the players. With the talent they have had, they should have several class single A state championships. Haven't even been to the big game since 2011. Thank god Altoona is not in single A. Great players need leadership to make a great team. Starts at the top!

This looks like it will be the first year in a long time that BG will not make the playoffs at the Hollidaysburg YMCA summer league. Top four teams right now are Altoona, Bellwood, Juniata Valley and Bishop Carroll.

Do all the BG girls show up to that league?

Re: BG girls
The three that supposedly quit have not come to any games. Other than that they have been just like any other team. You have kids that go on vacation, play AAU so the roster is in flux but for the most part their kids have been there.

BG's roster is made up of penn cambria,Bellwood, central, and a 6'2" transfer from Altoona. Must be hard to get all those great players to gel as a team. Of course a playbook that is 20 years old doesn't help either. Competing coaches would salivate at the thought of having BG's roster over the past 12 years

Re: BG girls
Who would be the transfer from Altoona that is 6'2"? I don't think Lee is that tall if that is who you are talking about. BG has some individuals that have talent but I agree they need leadership. Leadership from the coaching staff but also leadership from home. You have a group of parents that all think their kid is the best and they took their daughter there because they thought they were better than most others. Maybe the parents should step away and let the coach do his job. Anyone that has followed my posts knows that I'm not a big fan of what BG does but I know much of the problem in there right now is attitude and much of that comes from parents. Parents that think they are coaches because they coach AAU, parents who think their daughters were too good to play for their public school teammates that they grew up playing with since 2nd an 3rd grade. Parents who all think their daughter is some sort of Div I player. College coaches look for not only kids with talent but kids that get along with each other, that are a good teammate, that play both ends of the floor, that aren't selfish and kids that respect their coaches. Not much of that is at BG right now.
It's funny when I read the quotes in the paper after their games. Last year was a lot of using the word together and winning as a team but the words don't make it so. Actions speak louder than words.

Re: BG girls
Some of my best memories, experiences, and life lessons came from high school athletics under the leadership and guidance of good coaches. Teaching that team is bigger than the individual , team goals trumped individual accomplishment, and there were always lessons to be learned win or lose. The girls basketball team at BG gets no leadership or life lessons from the current coaching staff. No lessons before or after games. No teaching of skills in season or off season. These kids need guidance and leadership. They get absolutely nothing. I've watched games the past 2 years that made me embarrassed to wear the colors. Lack of coaching, enthusiasm, motivation. I think the coach needs to make it about the kids and not his wins. This gas truly been a disservice to the young women under his tutelage.

Re: BG girls
Does BG have any leadership in the athletic office? Apparently the girls coach can do whatever he wants at the expense of the girls, but the boys coach gets no backing whatsoever . And he actually develops players and young men. His kids love him and play hard for him and one bench warmer may bring him down. The girls have starters quit and nobody wonders what the problem might be. They need to do what's right for the girls and ask for his resignation now. The program is tarnished and the school shouldn't suffer the same hit to its reputation because of its inability to make decisions that benefit it's student athletes. They need enthusiasm and teaching. Not a guy who try's to recruit his way to success instead of developing the talent he has!

So I'm gonna assume you went to BG? You might be the first alumni from any catholic school in the country that admits to recruiting!

Wrong. There have been a couple other brave souls willing to take the heat in the name of righteousness.
