Heritage Preseason Discussion 2016

Post by Coach »

It is now August and we are just a few Fridays from starting the 2016 season.  It will come earlier than ever with most teams in our area trading the second scrimmage for a game.  We have some great posters who follow each conference and hopefully these threads will get them going.

Who are the favorites?
Best returning players?
Darkhorse?
New players that will have an impact?

I'm hopeful that many teams will get previewed in these threads in the coming weeks.  The first week will be here before you know it!

I think LV wins the conference and Penns Manor Fi wishes second. No surprises there. The FUTURE wildcard will be when Saltsburg and Blairsville combine programs. I predict that it happen in 2018 or 2019. The numbers of underclassmen is extremely low at both schools from what I have heard.

I don't know anything about West Shamokin, but they could be a surprise for the Heritage!!!

I think West Shamokin could be the dark horse here. They come from a very tough and physical league and they may bring different type of game with them.

I think the Wolves are a good fit, They have improved over the years in the WPIAL...I think they are a "poor mans" version of Homer Center, even down to the black uni's, but without the "game breaker" backs. Will probably be middle road beating, out toughing 4 yards and a cloud of dust, against the current lower half of the heritage, but teams with similar lineplay and/or more athletic teams probably will win shootouts against them. I.E. Beat a down year Blairsville team with younger linemen, but athletic and push them around. During a more mature bobcat year could not outscore them.

The Heritage should be competitivefrom top to bottom this year.  With the addition of West Shamokin, PL has a lot back, LV has a lot back too, PM is always tough, HC has a lot returning and United has 20 starters back.  It should be fun to watch play out this year.
