Re: Heat acclimation
Either way august is should not be football time. No matter where you are in the country its horrific weather to start a season.
Like bill said other parts of the country has it way worse than western PA, and those are the parts that sometimes start a week or two later and also see really bad situations pop up due to horrible conditions

I love it when someone is asked a simple question that they don't want to answer, they avoid by saying something cute.
It is not about being sensitive, it is being sick and tired of people stating their opinions and criticizing people without any accountability on their part.

10' away on the sideline, or 50' away in an elevated bleacher. One can see the same thing, from a different perspective. When play is stopped, and players are hydrating because of the heat, SO WERE the officials. What part of that don't you get?
It ain't over until it's over.
Re: Heat acclimation
This thread has compelled me to clarify some of my previous statements. I used to claim that all officials suck. Now I realize they are also fat and out of shape as well. Both of these statements are evident from the bleachers.

You forgot that they are "old" and have "bad eyes".say_oww wrote:This thread has compelled me to clarify some of my previous statements. I used to claim that all officials suck. Now I realize they are also fat and out of shape as well. Both of these statements are evident from the bleachers.

So dad with sons ,
When you hire a contractor to work on your house or mechanic to fix your car you are ok if their obesity prevents them from doing the job appropriately, since you are ok with officials being overweight, in a job where they might have to run or at least move quickly

Your quality of hired help is directly correspondent to the amount of money you're willing to pay and the pool of people even willing to do the job.
In other words, put up or shut up.

The fact of the matter is you can bash all you want but there is little incentive to officiate other than you love doing it or it's a hobby. They "make" very little money after expenses. Also the old argument that if you could do it so much better get out there and do it yourself but of course no one is willing to do that. People would rather get on a forum and run their mouths.

Re: Heat acclimation
I didn't make any statement concerning the officials or even take up for them. All I;m saying you have a man that sitting on his SEAT and doing NOTHING at the football, except making comments about people that ARE doing something worthwhile. They are out there for the KIDS trying to do their best. The person that I am talking about got upset when someone misquoted his post. All I was trying to point to him was the difference between an opinion and a fact. Just because someone was taking s drink of water doesn't have anything to do with their conditioning. It is just a smart thing to do, that is why they stop the game for the players. I agree appearance does lead to a judgment of conditioning. I just wanted him to make a judgment that his statement wasn't a fact, but his own opinion. That's all.
As stated earlier, is so EASY to criticize from the bleachers instead of doing of being out there on the field. You bleacher experts should try it sometime!!
