BC Question

Post by kmr »

I went past BC today they don't have over 18 kids in uniform.  My question is I know they can't play on another team this year but next if they don't have a team what happens?  Where would the kids play?  For wrestling they go to Portage would they do the same for football.   How would Coach Gouse like that?

Personally would be in favor of the addition of players, only if it wouldn't put Portage football into the AA quota... Not sure where the 18 players would put Portage with the new system.

Do believe a big class coming out of Jh next year..? With 15 or 16 this year juniors

Not sure that they still co-op with Portage for wrestling. They do have it for boys soccer with Penn Cambria, Northern Cambria and Portage who don't have soccer teams. But that pushes the BC boys soccer from A to AAA because they somehow factor in the number of boys from the contributing districts. How that would translate going the other way, I'm not sure. Also, losing their football team means losing conference status for every sport. Doubtful they would do that.

Sounds like something is brewing on Huskie Hill. What would happen to kids at the school this year if they cancel their season? Could they play for their home district

No, they won't be able to play football that's all.

If a school decides to take another school as a co-op, they would have to claim 50% of that school's male enrollment.  For many schools, this isn't worth the risk if you're close to the cut line.  If you have to claim 50 kids based on enrollment and you only get 4 players out for sport from that co-op school, you run the risk of getting bumped to a higher classification.

Thanks for the info, probably not in Portage's best interest to take a co-op from B-C.. Most likely Portage would get bumped up a classification.
