Yep, DCor50, thirty years ago you just went out and played.  You didn't cry because you had fifteen fewer boys than the schools you were playing.  You wanted to beat the teams from neighboring school districts.  You didn't worry about the Catholic schools recruiting, because back then if you didn't go to Catholic school in grade school you probably didn't go in high school.  In fact, I bet, more kids left Catholic grade schools for public high schools.  Kids also left public junior high schools for Greater Johnstown Vo-Tech.  Little leagues flourished.  There were no travel teams to massage the egos of moms and dads and coaches.  We didn't carry water bottles with us everywhere we went.  The only phone we had was mounted on the wall in the kitchen of our homes.  And yes, dinosaurs still roamed the earth.

When I was 9 Berlin had 5-6 little league teams in their own league. When I was 12, I had to go play at Shanksville because we didn't have any teams.

Thats' the problem with the participation trophy. Your not always going to win, your not going to get a prize, there are better teams and schools out there no matter who you are. Yes pay for the travel league, just know your kid plays because you can pay the bill not because they are exceptional. Youth sports are more about the adults these days than the kids. Let them be well round and not worry about their .01% chance of making it.  Sorry I got way off topic

I GOT IT! Next year we take all the good teams and put them in one league and all the bad teams in another league. Then the following year take all the good teams from the bad team league and put them in the good team league. Then take all the bad teams from the good team league and put them in the bad team league. Because goodness, we can't have bad teams playing good teams can we? LOL! or...we just realize the every year there will be good teams and there will be bad teams...the problem lies in the fact that some just can't realize they aren't always the same teams...right McCort and Carroll and Richland and....

LV can do all they want in conference this year, because once they see McCort their season will be over, Colin Smith will graduate and go back to being 5-5

Not so fast my friend...Ligonier has a lot of underclassmen that are very good...only 3 starters on Defense are Seniors...only 1 offensive lineman is a Senior...they'll be very good next year too...also, if they play McCort this year, it'll be in 9 weeks or so...who knows who will be playing by then with injuries and stuff...

There's no way Ligonier beats McCort, not a chance. Sorry if that offends anyone on here but that's the truth, McCort is much better that's all.
