BC to forfeit?
Re: BC to forfeit?
perhaps Somerset should move to the WestPAC since it is so much closer to Berlin, Meyersdale and North Star than any other LHAC team. Ferndale is right across the bridge from Johnstown and Bishop McCort and right down the road from Westmont. Conemaugh Valley borders Forest Hills, Richland, Johnstown and Central Cambria. Windber and Conemaugh Township are a stone throw from Richland.
Great idea!

Berlin beat Clairton last year. When is the last time Portage beat Berlin? Berlin didn't play Somerset, Johnstown, forest Hills or Penn Cambria did they? How did they get so good beating up on Shade, Windber and Meyersdale?
Re: BC to forfeit?
This is nothing against Portage. Why would the LHAC want another single a team ? I would think Chestnut Ridge would make more sense.

Portage beat Berlin two years ago. They beat them in the regular season then lost to them in the "WestPac Championship Game" at the end of the year.knowitall wrote:Berlin beat Clairton last year. Portage only graduates around 50ish kids these days, so to even fathom them moving to the LHAC is laughable.. The Mustangs used to average mid to high 50's on the football roster. That is now down to 39 or 40 kids this year. The overall talent is down as a whole as well and you can see that on the field. Portage will continue to be respectable because the other "down" WestPac teams are facing the same issues and not really getting any better either.

I don't get with the talking down on some teams. I don't think that's what you mean to do but Windber is normally at least a decent team Meyersdale was really good for a few years and I believe played Clairton pretty solid when they still have Boyd. But honestly it's coaching and talent. Look at Clairton's schedule, outside of Jeannette they play nobody. And last year in my opinion and same with rankings, Jeannette was around the same level as Portage. Berlin has been lucky enough to have great skill come through.knowitall wrote:Berlin beat Clairton last year. When is the last time Portage beat Berlin? I also think Coach Paul is probably the best coach in D5/D6. All you have to do is watch the pregame warmups. Last week Meyersdale was doing simple stretches and a few kids running routes. Berlin had three or four seperate sections of players ALL doing drills. Linemen were together, secondary was together, and offense was together. Hell toward the end Berlin was practicing fade route one handed catches and doing quite well at it. While I haven't seen any football outside of the Westpac I know Berlin is far above every other Westpac team in Coaching and work ethic. They really want to win is what it comes down to, and they're willing to work for it.

Hmmm when did portage average 50s on the team? I remember playing with over 70 on the team. Have the numbers really dropped that much. As a junior we had 23 and the senior class had 24

Yes I do remember the years of having high 60's and 70 players on the roster as well. Then recently its been in the 50's, and now this year It's all the way down to 39 or 40(sorry can't remember the exact number from the program roster) as I stated. The Junior and Freshman class are in the teen's however the Senior and Sophomore's are in the single digits in numbers. They would get murdered in the LHAC.GoldenRamsFAN wrote:Hmmm when did portage average 50s on the team? I remember playing with over 70 on the team. Have the numbers really dropped that much. Dude, seriously, every single school breaks up in to positions pregame, this is not some inventive piece of work that almighty Coach Paul came up with, is it really impressive to say that Berlin is better than any other Westpac team? I know that we get into this argument every single year. Berlin has more talent so they are winning right now, enjoy it because it goes in cycles, and maybe just maybe get to a game outside of the Westpac, just for some comparison. Go see Ligoneer Valley or Mccort so you see what is awaiting BerlinExRaided wrote:I don't get with the talking down on some teams. Youngbuck, I am so sorry you have such a tiny package. Berlin has proven themselves year after year to be a good team. Who cares, besides a has been/never was like yourself what awaits them down the road? Get a life!
