Westpac Week 6

Post by superstar25 »

Last week 5-0. Overall 23-2.

Windber (2-3) at Ferndale (2-3)  - Good battle of 2 win teams. Which Yellow Jacket team will show up? The one that beat Shade or the one that got blown out at Meyersdale last week. Rambler defense has struggled to stop anyone so I think this will be a high scoring game. I'll take Ferndale 40-34.

Portage (4-1) at North Star (1-4) - Good job Cougs in getting their first win. Unfortunately they won't get win number 2 on Friday. Mustangs roll 49-7.

Blacklick Valley (0-5) at Meyersdale (3-2) - Red Raiders switched Chrissner to QB and it seemed to give them a spark. BV is struggling. Meyersdale 42-0.

Conemaugh Valley (1-4) at Shade (2-3) - Shade showed me something last week at Berlin. They play tough defense and Fyfe can make plays at QB. Panthers get to .500  28-7.

Berlin (5-0) at Conemaugh Township (5-0) - Game of the year in the Westpac. I said earlier in the year that CT wasn't a top ten single A team in the state. Well they can prove me wrong with a win here. Both teams are very similar. Play good defense, run the ball. Not many game breakers on either side. Berlin seemed to struggle on offense a little last week without Booth. Berlin also needs to limit turnovers. Mountaineers starting defense hasn't given up a point all season but the offense has 2 pick sixes and a fumble return for a score. Can't do that this week against the Indians. CT can pass but with the way the weather looks, it is probably going to come down to who can run it better. Two good lines going at it in this one. I'll take Berlin by a field goal 17-14.

Ferndale/Windber may be a tougher for Ferndale on account of the rain and being a passing team.

Yes. The Indians proved they are the best team in the Westpac. Great win for them. I still think 1a and 2a are watered down some with the change to six classifications. There is not alot of great teams in either class.

I think Berlin and CT are about even. CT has been getting better while Berlin has been getting worse. Between losing Booth and the sloppy play and sloppy conditions Berlin can't hold on to the ball when it counts. Even if Berlin didn't have all of those turnovers I'd say CT beat us by a TD or two. I still think Berlin can get back to playing like they did through the first four games. The way they played there was at least equal to CT if not better. Just a shame that we won't have the chance to see them again this season for a shot at payback.

Yes, it is pretty bad when you out gain the other team and lose 28 to 0.

Yeah, I saw this. I wasn't at the game, but listening to it on the radio was just depressing. I was not expecting the stats to look like that. You can't have that many turnovers and expect to win, especially when you're turning the ball over in your own end.

Was very surprised when I first saw the score as well. Then I saw the turnovers with two of them coming inside the 10 yard line which are absolute killers in key games. Very uncharacteristic play from Berlin but I'm sure Coach Paul will right the ship, regroup and get it headed in the right direction immediately.
