Re: What have we learned at halfway point?
you can talk about football without bringing peoples kids into it, that's a **** move.
Re: What have we learned at halfway point?
You could just let it go because it's internet garbage, not make a scene out of "Never Back Down" from it. A lot of people say dumb crap, just tell them they're dumb and move on.
If only closed minds came with closed mouths
Re: What have we learned at halfway point?
I don't see anyone's kid being ripped on here. And no, I don't believe many of those kids from Johnstown and the various travel sports teams are at McCort for academics.DCor50 wrote:CrimsonLion...you lost all credibility when you bolted for Crusher Land and left your school and community high and dry...from what I hear, no one cares about your opinion of United or LV...![]()

I agree Hank, you're correct.
Knowitall...read the post about leaving your community high and dry. That's what I was alluding to.
A lot of the kids at McCort are there for academics, some were at risk kids at their previous schools. If they didn't go to McCort and change their surroundings there's a good chance that they get lost in the system.
I can tell you for a fact that my son goes there and academics played a huge role in that decision. The gifted curriculum at his previous school is horrible. He needed a more challenging academic track. Athletic scholarships aren't easy to come by despite what everyone thinks, so you need to have the academics. The chance to leave McCort with over semester and a half of college credit along with all it's other offerings was too much to pass up. Public school systems anymore aren't what they used to be with all its bureaucracy and ego driven board members making all of the decisions they often forget that school is about the students and not them. Not too mention these kids aren't going there for free their paying tuition. I'd rather see kids do that then just go attend another public school and not pay anything which happens often.

This escalated quickly. Wow. We went full circle and somehow brought it back to private school issues. Congrats

Crimsonlion you been on here jawing about how things are and should be done.CrimsonLion wrote:Nothing to say, Greg Page did it the way it's supposed to be done. United never stopped them, starters were out early after the half and their JV's didn't get stopped either. United has struggled since their heart breaking loss against West Shamokin.
Dcor if you want to get personal, walk on up to me and say something. Don't hide behind your keyboard there toughie. I'm free to do whatever I want. If my kid wants to go to McCort and feels it's the best thing for him that's what I'll do. You have no idea as to why that choice was made, but I suggest before you run your mouth and include my child you decide to take a better path.
Ligonier is a great team, if they win 84-0 who cares, but there's ways you do it, that's all..period...and don't forget it's a small world, you wanna take it to another level we can do that.
My father knew Jerry Page personally when he was up here at Portage, followed his career and when he talks about Jerry it's with utmost admiration for him.
However, Greg Page, which you got to give credit for what his team's have done. But, couple years ago during pregame warmups, he decided to start yelling at Portages star running back about what him and his team were going to do to him. I was on the field firsthand to hear the debacle. So happens the star running ran for 250+ .....and beat the undefeated team. Thanks Greg!!
From then on out I may respect the coach but never the man!
Re: What have we learned at halfway point?
sorry stang, that is an absolute lie, and would never happen. do not say stuff that never happened. do you really think that makes any sense to do anything like that?

Re: What have we learned at halfway point?
I'll call BS on that, I've played against Page's teams, Coached against Page's teams and I know Greg very well. I also know the Portage staff very well. Could I see a HC assistant doing that or a player? Absolutely, Greg Page? No way in hell would he ever do that.
