Westpac Week 12
Last week 1-3. 45-14 overall. Great week for the Westpac last week but bad for my picks. Meyersdale and Berlin both pulled out tough wins and Ferndale pulled the upset of the week in the area.
Penns Manor (5-6) @ Portage (8-2) - The Comets are a surprise to still be playing and are hot having won 4 in a row. The Mustangs are always tough at home and with a bye week to prepare I think they will get it done. Portage 35-13.
Ferndale (5-6) @ Northern Cambria (7-3) - Who thought the Yellow Jackets would be playing in week 12? Not me. Great win last week for them. They need to keep forcing turnovers to probably have a chance this week. The Colts have a strong running game and solid defense. I hope Ferndale can keep it going but I think their season ends here. NC 28-14.
Berlin (9-2) vs. Chestnut Ridge (8-3) at Windber - The Mountaineers pulled out a nail biter last week against Westinghouse despite giving up a ton of passing yards. That might be an issue for them this week as the Lions QB has thrown for almost 1800 yards on the season (as well as running for almost 900). I don't think Berlin has seen an offense as good as Ridge's. Ridge is on a 5 game winning streak and seems to be playing some really good ball. Berlin is going to need their best effort of the year and get some turnovers to win this one. CR has too many weapons and wins 35-17.
Meyersdale (8-3) vs. Conemaugh Township (9-2) at Somerset - Good rematch of a 16-13 Meyersdale win 4 weeks ago. This one could go either way. The Red Raiders have given up some yards lately but their passing game has been good. I think the Indians defense is a little better. They need to get the running game going in this one. CT pulls out another close one 17-14.
