Re: College football playoff system is a farce, BCS with 4 teams
The College Football Playoff needs to expand to 8 teams. Take the Power 5 Conference Champions (Big10, Big12, Pac12, SEC, & ACC) along with 3 At-Large teams and go from there. Keep your other bowl games for teams who didn't qualify for the playoffs. Have your major bowl games (Rose, Orange, etc.) be your National Quarterfinals, create 2 new Bowl games for your Semifinals, and then have your National Championship. I think that is the best solution, because until then you are still going to have 1 or 2 teams pleading a case to get in, this way every Power 5 Conference Champion is in and then you take your 3 best Non-Conference Champions/Non-Power 5 Conference Schools.
Example: 2016
1. Alabama 13-0 (SEC)
2. Clemson 12-1 (ACC)
3. Ohio State 11-1 (At-Large)
4. Washington 12-1 (Pac12)
5. Penn State 11-2 (Big10)
6. Michigan 10-2 (At-Large)
7. Oklahoma 10-2 (Big12)
8. Western Michigan 13-0 (At-Large)

Honestly, even going to 6 teams with the top 2 getting a bye would probably be sufficient. Have a play in game of sorts for teams 3-6 which is where the difference in the teams is very small.

If it goes to eight teams, the 9th, 10th, 11th and 14th best teams will be whining that they are all better than the 7th and 8th teams.

4 teams is great. I listened to bob stoops, ok head coach, sunday and he said if you switch to 8 teams no one would ever schedule tough OOC and it would severely devalue conference champ games.

I'm not saying either team should be in. Just pointing out that conference championships and OOC scheduling have already been deemed irrelevant.

Idk ohio states OOC schedule seems relevant. As well as the 3 confernce champions.....
Re: College football playoff system is a farce, BCS with 4 teams
Well Oklahoma played the toughest OOC schedule in FBS, went undefeated in conference play, and won their power 5 conference outright.
Not only did they not make it, they weren't even 5th or 6th. They were 7th.
Penn State played the 9th toughest OOC schedule and won their conference. Also didn't make it.
The top 4 includes a team that didn't win their conference and played the next to worst OOC schedule in FBS and a non-conference champion.
So how much does OOC and conference championships matter?

Problem is OK went 1-2 in that schedule. Penn state went 2-1. Both wash and ohio state had better records vs top 25 teams than ok and psu.... so keep crying and making penn state fans look bad.
