Kids will sign up come out and lift in the off season when it comes to football they won't show up.  The kids that I heard that signed up won't play they play fall baseball.   This year's sign ups reminded me of Carroll's sign ups from last year call all the male students and tell them how desperate the program is.  A lot of people are just ready to move on whether it be with McGregor,Gochnour,Paronosh, or Klezak.

Understood.

But, a New coach won't lure back the Fall Baseball players, at least not all of them.

Fall baseball,...another "critter" that didn't exist in Cambria County 25 years ago.
I think your sports choices back then were, Football, or Cross Country.
Getting 50+ kids, serious about football, is considerably more difficult in 2017.

And, with that, I'm ready to move on as well.
I hope CC rebounds. It's good for all the LHAC teams, for them all to be healthy, vibrant programs.

Ok. Do you have the kids to win??? Just because PC hires John Franco and his name speaks for itself doesn't mean you're going to win.

Was just stating that a coach was hired. Didn't say he was good, terrible or indifferent. Lol

I think he will be good as far as having a 'football' mind, his assistant's experience will help, and he seems to have a pretty good rapport with the high school kids. If they 'buy into' his system, and have a modicum of abilities, they should be able to compete well enough, maybe not contenders for awhile, but you gotta crawl before you walk or run.
It ain't over until it's over.

Wow... this page is great!  Taking me back the ol' lhsports page days.  If there's someone out there that went by the name "Maestro"... we have arguments to rehash!

Central Cambria football has always been the same since I can remember (circa 1984)... mediocrity with flashes of greatness, which usually revolved around a single player that the coaches didn't know what to do with but rode their coattails to Districts, and in a few instances, the State playoffs (Randy McKavish is 40+ nowadays).

No matter, the difference between those years and the most recent years has been Ken Bussard and Chuck Gironda... they actually cared about the kids.  If you want a case of "win at all costs", try and track down Craig Sponsky and share that narrative (not good).  High school football, for more than 99% of those who play it, is just part of their education.

No one on a high school football forum titled "Central Camrbia" should ever use the term "buy in to a system" or "fall baseball players 'blah blah blah'"... fall baseball is sham unless you're 15+ and can throw 90+, are you kidding me?  You're either an overzealous fan, parent or relative when you say something like that.

That being said... Shane McGregor is the best man for the job.  Ever since Chuck and Ken made post-retirement cameos to coach, Central Cambria has had to deal with the by-products of their success... all the way from Terek, Shutty and Corrente.  In Bill's defense, Gouse has been at Portage pretty much since Vietnam... and it just so happens that Corrente and Gouse are related so where's the loyalty?

I'll go with "The Flow"!  Good luck Shane!!!
