Butler BlueSox collegiate wood-bat baseball

Post by Sykotyk »

Not sure if anyone follows them as they're a bit outside the geographic footprint of most of schools followed here, but they're in the Prospect League championship series against the Lafayette Aviators. It's a best-of-three series starting on Thursday. With game 2 and 3 (if needed) in Butler on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

Butler finished the season with the best record. Coincidentally, facing Lafayette in a two-game series to close the regular season needing just one win to clinch the best record and homefield throughout the playoffs. They lost the first game, but beat Lafayette 15-10 in the season finale. Then played the West Virginia Miners, sweeping them in two games. First in Beckley, WV on Monday and the second on Tuesday in Butler.

Now, it's the title round.
Ty Black (Bedford) and Bryce Spak (Windber) hail from D6, while many others dot the D7/D9/D10 landscape. A few a little further out from Ohio, Florida, etc. ( https://www.butlerbluesox.net/team )
If anyone is interested, they'll stream the championship games on their youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/ButlerBlueSox

The past few years, they've been airing live video stream of the home games. Tickets for the championship series are $9 for GA up to $11, while normally tickets are $7-$10. Kelly Automotive Park is a great small 1,500 seat ballpark that was rebuilt years ago and is honestly worth checking out. Located at the sight of the original Pullman Park (home of the Butler Yankees minor league team and for quite some time the Butler HS football team), the modern stadium is a local/regional showcase. Several HS baseball teams share the stadium, as well as many youth and other organized teams. The downside of all that is it's a turf infield, but natural grass outfield.
