Conemaugh Valley dropped to 0-8 last night.  In 2014 its Junior High team went undefeated and its 5th and 6th grade team went 8-0 and won its championship.  These kids are today’s 9th, 10th and 11th graders.  I would say that they will suffer significant losses with the graduation of several seniors after this season and the longtime future of CV is in doubt after next season.

What are Brian Bare qualifications? Have heard from several this hire was a huge mistake and was in part hopeful that his nephew who is a stud at BM as freshman would come back to CV.

Brian Bair was the JH coach until this season. He was the coach of the 2014 team that went undefeated. His nephews were on the 5th and 6th grade team that year and would be in 9th grade this season. I don’t think they would have made a significant impact this year.

But how much coaching is really done in midget or junior high football? There are lots of bad coaches out there "leading" teams to undefeated seasons with the strategy of get the best kid the ball. Even at junior there is often not much teaching done and it becomes a battle of which team hit puberty first. A lot more coaching needs to be done once you hit the JV and Varsity level

If they aren't taught good fundamentals by the time they finish 8th grade, they will not cut it in JV and Varsity.

Interesting comment, was in a conversation about this over the weekend, Alex Hoenstine was discussed and how much they but the ball in his hands, then Codi Simanski from Windber was brought up and Grohal is getting him 20 or more touches every game.   It would appear to an outsider that Mccleester is the best player at CV, is Bair using him like that?

True. To an extent you always want the best player to have the ball. The main difference is linemen don't need to do much most of the time at lower levels, the best kid just makes his own room, at high school level, the defense is typically good enough that offensive line needs to do more than just stand up and try to block a random player with no plan.
