Looks like they are covering their bases. They also applied to Mid Penn. Sounds like that is their first preference.According to Altoona Mirrorknowitall wrote:http://triblive.com/sports/hssports/otherhighschoolsports/12843674-74/altoona-makes-pitch-to-wpial-board-of-directors-to-join-district-7Aiks19 wrote:According to article they applied to mid penn. Yes Mid-Penn will vote Wednesday whether or not to bring Altoona back starting next football season. WPIAL vote comes later. Decision will likely then be made at Altoona school board meeting on 11/13. Acceptance into Mid-Penn is the result I believe they are hoping for.

Good for Altoona. They were just not up to the WPIAL level.

I'm not sure it is going to be better competition wise. I,m not sure getting worked by Harrisburg is any different. Central Carholic and Harrisburg are even up this year

The game that I love to watch is the Coal Bowl. CH vs NC. Regardless of the teams records these two teams play each other hard.
Re: Crossover games that you would want to see?
I think it is a better fit, but your point is well taken. The Mid-Penn Commonwealth division for football is stacked with Harrisburg, State College, CD East, Cumberland Valley and Central Dauphin. Just ask Carlisle and Chambersburg who routinely take an O-fer in division play.deepcreek wrote:I'm not sure it is going to be better competition wise. I'm sure State College is all for Altoona rejoining as it will lessen their football travel burden. They already play each other in every other sport.
Re: Crossover games that you would want to see?
The difference will be when Altoona has a semi competitive team. Three years ago they actually went 7-3 but were one and done in the playoffs. Now they can go back to D6-10 subregion where they will have a chance to move on.
Re: Crossover games that you would want to see?
I don't know about that as there seems to have been a substantial gap in talent/results between State College and Altoona over the past decade. The winner of the D6/8/10 sub-region has a tough road to Hershey. They get the winner of the D2/4 sub-region, then the WPIAL champion and then the D3 champion just to get to the title game.Aiks19 wrote:The difference will be when Altoona has a semi competitive team. I'm not saying they can't be competitive. It's just not easy anywhere in 6A, especially for a "western" team.
