The best Altoona players are playing at Altoona.  A few good athletes come and go, but that happens every year.  Altoona's lack of success is not because a bunch of kids leave.  We play a very tough schedule and it is very difficult to make it through the season injury free.  An independent schedule would have been ideal to start to rebuild enthusiasm for the program.   It seems to have worked for Hollidaysburg.  Unfortunately our school board says our size and location is a problem, that most schools in our region won't play us, and that most teams are committed to conference play the latter half of their seasons which makes scheduling a challenge.  The move to Mid-Penn will add a little more flexibility to the schedule, but we have pretty much just moved from west to east with the type of competition we face.
