Saltsburg forfeit
Re: Saltsburg forfeit
WyoTech has closed.
There are rumblings in the district that depending on the outcome of the upcoming school board elections, Blairsville is looking to break apart from Saltsburg and merge with Homer Center.

It ain't over until it's over.
Re: Saltsburg forfeit
Route 22 is the reason for all the restaurants, stores and certain landmarks like the golf course and medical center in Blairsville/Burrell Township. That's all well and good but like someone said, there's nothing there that is keeping young people in the area longterm. A large retail fulfillment facility is coming to Indiana County in the next year or so, but I'm not sure if 200 some jobs qualifies as a game changer.

Re: Saltsburg forfeit
Blairsville is not going to join Homer. That is a bluff by the current Board members to try to consolidate the schools. Homer has never been approached and according to my source is unwilling to take on Blairsvilles debt. The best bet is to consolidate Blairsville and Saltsburg schools and people are slowly starting to accept this idea.BHSfan97 wrote:WyoTech has closed.

Re: Saltsburg forfeit
The bottom line is these small community schools aren't sustainable and need to go away. Indiana County should have four high schools, max. Three even better.

This has been said since Socrates day. Why aren’t these schools sustainable anymore?Birda wrote:The bottom line is these small community schools aren't sustainable and need to go away.

Re: Saltsburg forfeit
An article in the Indiana Paper said Blairsville Saltsburg hasn't raised taxes in 10 years. Is this true?
Re: RE: Re: Saltsburg forfeit
Because they're small and poor. A combined Blairsville/Saltsburg/United/Homer-Center has three fewer superintendents and administrative staffs, three fewer high schools buildings, two or three fewer middle school buildings, and fewer staff to go along with all those buildings.knowitall wrote:This has been said since Socrates day. Re: Saltsburg forfeit
All those Rt. 22 corridor business for a tax base and Blairsville has DEBT? Sounds like gross mis-management if true.LoneRanger wrote:Blairsville is not going to join Homer.
