When will Joe call it quits?

Post by soccermom »

I think that Penn State will go 7-4 this year. They will make it to a decent bowl game and win. And when this happens I think Joe will call it quits. If he does this year, I hope and pray that Jay doesn't take over. They need a BIG name coach with a proven track record (ie. Steve Spurrier).

i would have thought that he would retire after this year too until a week ago. one of the main selling pts for morelli going to psu was that he thought joe would be at psu longer than "not my fault" walt would be at pitt. plan on seeing the man on the sidelines at least 2 more years. joe has also said he would like to stick around until he has a shot at a NC in the 2000's. could be more than 2 yrs then. when he does retire, im kinda rooting for kirk ferentz to become head of the nits. he's done a great job w/ a lack luster program in iowa. think of the what he could do w/ the resources State has to offer.

If you think it will be anyone but Fran Ganter or if Joe stays a little longer John Vanderlinden then you are kidding yourself.

John Mehno's article the other day was like watching a recruiter from Pitt or other schools go to town. He was saying he did not agree that Morelli's decision to go to PSU was more because he felt JoePa would stick around through his entire stint and he was scared that Walt would leave Pitt. Mehno said that is hilarious and he said, KIDS....

Well John, JoePa has had that used against him for the past 10 years in recruiting and he is still there. Coaches that used it against him saying he would be gone and you can't rely on the old guy to still be there are no longer coaching. It is just funny to hear that stuff.

I feel JoePa has a special class on board, and he will leave with them...
