They had photo day on Friday with 17 kids and now they're planning on canceling the season? Kind of seems unlikely.

There are no sign offs when kids transfer prior to 9th grade. Maybe schools should figure out why kids want to leave? Maybe McCort is a better fit for some kids than CV or United

Not if kids got banged up in the scrimmage the next day

Karma is a b**ch. Back in 1994, the LVSD once again was planning on consolidating their two high schools in Ligonier. A group of concerned citizens from Laurel Valley petitioned the United School Board, asking them to merge United and Laurel Valley. It would have been a match made in heaven. Many folks from both sides of the river are either related or are friends. The people from both communities are cut from the same cloth. The USD board turned down the request by a 6-3 vote. If they would have been forward thinking they wouldn't find themselves in their present dilemma. The Laurel Valley folks would be happy. In fact, I believe that kids that once would have played football at LV and don't play at Ligonier, would now have chosen to play at United. It is only going to get worse for these small schools. I can see a Homer Center/United merger in my chrystal ball. By the way Manfred, Conemaugh Valley is not nearby for most students of United.

I talked to a mother of a United player last night. She told me that they have eighteen players on the roster, but they have a couple of them hurt. Don't look for the lions to give up. Those kids are tough. As long as they don't have too many injuries, Coach Marabito will have those guys ready to play!

School Board members didn't want to inherit debt nor did they want to risk losing their seats on the board. The other big issue as I recall was they didn't want to be forced to take on teachers who may have had seniority over younger teachers who may have ever been better teachers.
I always heard, If the district would have been rezoned they would've had to have a new board voted on. Not a lot of transparency with some of those older members.
