Kross Cassidy NHSCA National 2nd
The 6A Virginia State Champion dominated his way to the finals to prove he is one of the country's best! As an outsider looking in it is CRAZY to say he would not have won or at least been in contention for a PIAA State Title this year at 145lbs or 152lbs. The only loss that can be used to validate those ridiculous statements from previous threads is the match against Trent Hoover, which if you were there in person would realize the controversial calls and poor officiating gave Hoover the win (it was wrestled at the PENN CAMBRIA TOURNAMENT). To elaborate further... Hoover still wrestled #7 in the USA and PIAA State Champion Melvin Miller (Melvin Miller never defeated Kross Cassidy from elem-varsity while Kross holds multiple victories over him) to a one-point match every time they met! Scratch your heads and read between the line's boys, Kross Cassidy is as legit as they come.
This 16-year-old kid has competed in two collegiate opens and excelled! He has defeated the likes of 2X PIAA Medalist and current LHU wrestler Chase Burke along with University of Maryland's Joe Fisk 4X National Prep All American, Beast of The East Placer, 4 Time State Placer, and BIGTEN wrestler! Word on the street is he is receiving interest from Oklahoma, Ohio State, Northwestern, GMU, etc. for his tenacious high paced offense. To question his talent level when he has majored wrestlers that have absolutely handled the likes of Max Wirnsberger (PA) speaks volumes of Kross Cassidy.
Common opponents dictate Cassidy is the REAL DEAL! 54-0 PIAA State Champion Brandt Harer of Montogomery dec. Max Wirnsberger (PA) 6-2 in their closest match, let's compare this to Kross Cassidy.... Cassidy defeated Lorenzo Alston 11-3; Alston defeated Max Wirnsberger 8-5 in the round before that showed he didn't deserve to even get a match with Cassidy the 6A VA State Champion.
Bedford couldn't handle this kids' talent. I agree they have a rich history but never have they had a kid like Kross Cassidy. if you disagree name one wrestler that excelled at the collegiate level, some of Bedford's finest wrestlers could simply not hack it at the next level, meanwhile Kross Cassidy is dominating college opens as a high school sophomore. The only Bedford wrestler that can challenge my statement is his BROTHER KADEN CASSIDY! So next time get the facts right and don't s*** where you eat! I am simply a fan, remember don't hate the player hate the game now leave the kids alone! It’s hard not to cringe and laugh hysterically at some of the previous comments as if Kross was in control of his opponent med defaulting. How can you possibly downplay his title because he happened to receive a forfeit in the state finals?? I’m not sure maybe…? they do not have Big Ten Network in Bedford County but Edmond Ruth happened to become a BIG TEN Champ by the same method of victory, surely that doesn’t mean that Rocco Welsh is a garbage wrestler, right? Not to mention Kross Cassidy would surely be worth it to CR seeing they will take a standout transfer anywhere they can get it. Besides the outstanding Deputy boys, who are absolutely class acts (one cannot speak highly enough on those boys as far as talent and professionalism) what standouts are originally from CR? PIAA AA 145lbs. was not murders row by any means. If Kross were to wrestle Lawler from McDevitt he’d terrorize him so quit trying to go out of your way to discredit a kid that was the only reason bedford was on the map.
LETS HEAR IT THEN BOYS BECAUSE ALL I HEAR IS CRICKETS!!! Bedford lost a future BIGTEN Wrestler because their administration failed to do their job! They were to blind to see that Bedford was suffering with some glaring issues in all aspects of the program. Bedford has a toxic wrestling culture destined for failure, it is no surprise Deputy and Gibbons left for CR.

Kross Cassidy is amazing and this article couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. He will fit perfect in the Ridge lineup when he comes back to Bedford county. The loop hole where you leave the state for a time and return is in full effect. This kid would have been top five in the Laurel highlands this year behind Miller, Hoover and Watson. He definitely put Bedford on the map. This article was so well written. Well done to the author.

I do wish the best for Kross and hope he’s successful. And I agree Bedford wrestling is currently a dumpster fire. However all the hypotheticals in the world don’t equal the same results.

I got a pretty good idea that a certain ex-coach formulated this article from reading his insta posts

Best case- Deputy brings Cahill in on staff and Cassidy moves back. Let’s go Ridge. Get some respect back on D5’s name.
