Final score 63-45, Southern Fulton wins but game was a lot closer than the score indicates. Fannett-Metal made a big run in the third and fourth quarters, was within 5 before Southern Fulton regained momentum.
Southern Fulton had 4 players in double figures, including one player off the bench. Congratulations to Coach Best and all the Fannett-Metal players for a strong game and a fine season!

WARFORDSBURG, Pa. - Once Fannett-Metal set off Southern Fulton's alarm late in the third quarter, the Indians either could have gotten out of bed or gone back to sleep until next season. Southern Fulton's hands never went anywhere near the snooze button.
The top-seeded Indians outscored the eighth-seeded Tigers 18-5 over the final 9 minutes, 12 seconds of the game on the way to a 63-45 win in the District 5 Class A boys basketball quarterfinals Tuesday night. Southern Fulton (19-5), the defending district champ, plays fourth-seeded Turkeyfoot, a 91-73 quarterfinals winner over Berlin, in the semifinals Thursday at Bedford.
"We played like a team going through the motions," Indians coach Kent Hendershot said. "We didn't show any intensity until the game was on the line. "Hopefully, that was our wakeup call and will get us focused to win this district again. From here on out, it's a one-game season."
Fannett-Metal (9-16), which fell 64-45 and 65-41 to the Indians during the regular season, trailed 16-8 at the end of the first quarter, 36-23 at halftime and 45-29 with 3 minutes left in the third period, before mounting a charge. "At haftime we talked about it being the last game for the seniors, and the boys came out and made it a ball game," Tigers coach Greg Best said. "The boys could have packed it in, but they never gave up."
Joel Umbrell's 3-pointer from the top of the arc cut Southern Fulton's lead to 45-32 with 2:50 left in the third, and after Cole Daniel's steal and layup 75 seconds later, it was 45-40 with a major upset seemingly in the works. But before Fannett-Metal's contingency of visiting fans could completely dominate the gymnasium volume, Southern Fulton's Chris Krause drained a 3-pointer in transition to snap the guest's run. After Robert Pye went 1-for-2 at the foul line for the Tigers, Krause sank another 3 on the move with 9 seconds left in the quarter to put the Indians back on top by double digits, 51-41, entering the fourth.
"Krause pulled us through right there," said Danny True, who scored a team-high 13 points for Southern Fulton. "That's what good teams do: Someone steps up."
"I was wide open and they passed me the ball," said Krause, who finished with 11 points. "They were big shots. They got the crowd into it, the team into it and after that it was off to the races."
The Indians outscored the Tigers 12-4 in the fourth quarter. Will Schriver, who finished with a team-high 10 rebounds, led the way with six of his 11 points. "Something needed to be done," Schriver said. "We realized if we didn't get back in the game, we were going to lose it."
Brock Flowers had 11 points and three steals and Jay Ifert added nine points and four assists for Southern Fulton, which shot 21-for-52 from the field.
"Ugly win, but we'll take it," True said. "We have the potential to win it all, but we need to play well. Nothing's given to us. We have to earn it."
Cole finished with 16 points, while Umbrell had 12 for the Tigers, who were 13-for-28 shooting.

Sounds like it was interesting down in Indian country lastnight. I really wish I could have been there to see the boys give them a run for their money. I'm glad the paper covered it like they did....instead of going one sided. Way to go FM...they knew you were there!!!............2 weeks til baseball season
