Let me be the one to disagree...

However, Garrett is not the one to wrestle this way against. It is Jake Strayer that needs to be wrestled this way. To beat Jake Strayer, one first needs to take the conditioning factor out of the cards. If one tries to keep up with him and fall into the "action, action, action" mode, he is going to lose. Whereas, if one slows him down and wrestles a more defensive mode, he will have a better chance of keeping up with Jake particularly in the third period when Jake would normally break away. Certainly this does not give one the win, it just evens things up a bit.

4-him i agree in the sense that that is exactly the way joey makara would wrestle. as soon as he got ahead by several points he would stall and was the best there ever was at stalling because he never got called for it. once in the lead he would only take half shots ,nothing that could get him into trouble but enough not to be called for stalling. it sure worked for him.most of his wins were by several points only. a wrestler has to look at the strength of his opponent and adjust. e.g. you do not want to wrestle lascari on your feet and you do not want to wrestle snyder on the mat

Most of my matches were not one point matches. Maybe at the end of the season but not during the season. I wrestled my style. That was score quick and often. After that YOU had to come to me. Take the Lascari semi match last year at regionals. I was up by 1 in the 3rd and we were neutral. I was going to shoot til he did. And you know what he only took like 2 shoots the whole time. So i didnt have to. I wrestled smart. Or in my state final match last year. I was winning 3-0. No way was i going to risk puttin myself in bad position winning by 3. I knew he had a heck of a cradle so i was going to let him shoot before i did. And again he didnt shoot until like 10 seconds left. Like you said i did enough not to get hit for stalling. I didnt need to go out and not get scored on or win big. The post season was about winning and thats what i did. If everyone could wrestle like that and win they would too.

I only got to see you wrestle at regionals and states and the matches i saw you wrestle were close matches. I was not downgrading or making fun of your style but rather i was complimenting it because you did what you had to do to win a match and you were very sucessfull at it. That was
the point of my post . A wrestler has to know his wrestler's opponent's strength and do what is necessary to win if that means wrestling on your feet on the mat or picking your spot to take your shot you must be an exceptional wrestler to do this and you and jake strayer are two people who come to mind recently who had the ablity to wrestle that way.
