PIAA's
picking 2 or 3 from each class, the best upcoming games in terms of being either very competitive or seeing if D6 can compete at the next level may be:
Round 1
AAAA
State College-Mt Lebo(defending PIAA champ SC should win BIG but state has been inconsistent at times and if lebo plays the--yawn--slowdown--it could be a close one---Kanaskie SG from SC is the son of former IUP and current PSU assistant coach Kurt Kanaskie)
Schenley-Penn Hills(2 athletic teams--PH has underachieved given their talent ...but is capable of making a serious PIAA run IF ..and a big IF..they play to their ability and IF McClain plays anywhere near like what a Big East/ACC recruit should play like...Ionadi-SG from PH--is being recruited by UPJ)
GJR--New Castle
GJR is led by PG Tyrae Denmark-a Cincy recruit i believe--Tyrae has been suspended from several games this year--with 6'5 and 6'7 guys(stores and roberts? inside)--GJR has played tough competition all year including chester, erie prep twice, williamsport,mcdowell , a top NY team and 3 teams from Kentucky...NeCA another team whose coach and principal John Sarandrea will admit has not reached his expectations is led by forward Devin Taylor and is capable of upsetting GJR if they can get a solid effort out of Cain(not a given), give a solid defensive effort(not a given), limit Denmark offensively and hope for a few breaks like GJR foul trouble ....Any game with Coaches McConnell and Sarandrea on the benches promises to be entertaining

Hopewell-Lewistown
--can D6 hang with the WPIAL???

North Star-Freeport(if only because Ferko, Bauman and Shubik played for the same AAU team--could get ugly if Freeport plays like they did against the quips in their buzzer-beater defeat last week)
Westmont-North Catholic(the winner of this should have the easiest route of AA teams to the western semifinals)

Homer-Elk County Catholic---(which Homer team shows up???)
--another HC game at Clarion----how many times NEUTRALO ..have these teams met in the playoffs)
Bishop Carroll-Cornell--(did the relatively rigorous LHAC schedule
prepare the Huskies for this one?--again the winner of this game should have the easiest route to the western semi's)

McKeesport-State College-( upset-minded HOT Tiger team)
Penn Hills--Connellsville( rematch of the WPIAL playoff game)
McDowell-Cent Catholic( D10 champs loaded with top D2 recruit Stoczynski and Smiley who hit for 31 against GJR in D10 final-and Zacour inside vs. PCC with Ross Watson,6'7"Goldcamp? and 6'5" Wajiid(sp) who is also being recruited by UPJ

Aliquippa-Sto-Rox--(hopefully the Palumbo is available for this game--potentially a CLASSIC--DiMichele was sick in the BF game..Geiger quit shooting..Huger made some ill-advised decisions resulting in fouls and thought he was a 3-pt shooter late...and still only lost by 5 so the Vikings have to have the proverbial chip on their shoulder...the quips had to see what the BF pressure did to the ROX...will a healthy DiMichlele and any type of Minear gameplan beat the pressure..Harper(SR) and Jance Henry(A) are 2 of the most underrated players in the WPIAL--line-up for tix now)
Beaver Falls-Jeannete (another rematch of a WPIAL playoff game...neither team shot FT's well in that one..2 Physical teams--Dent(J)-is a WVU football recruit--the WINNER gets the winner of westmont's bracket---a BF-Westmont rematch???)

Kennedy Catholic-Vincentian---(predicting Votino would take this team to Hershey..Loomis will not)

Good preview Roaks! I think D5/6 best shots at opening round wins are S.College, Johnstown, and S.Fulton. If we get four wins or more for the locals vs WPIAL it will be a good year. I think CC and Westy could have shots as well.
Good call on the best 2nd round games....I've already eyeballed the Quippa-Rox game as the possible western final before the western final...should determine who gets to Hershey. Just hoping some of my comrades are willing to make the mid week jaunt to points unknown...Considering I've been to Reading, Clarion, and other far away places on weeknight with our "gang" this shouldn't be problem!
