I'd say the most pressing need for the Steelers right now is the offensive line (especially pass blockers) and the secondary. I'd love it if the Steelers could somehow trade Amos and Gildon for Ty Law or somebody like that, especially since Law doesn't want in New England anymore. With him on the roster, they should be able to cover the top receiver pretty effectively.
With a good offensive line, I think that Tommy Maddox would be a great quarterback (remember how well he filled in for Kordell Stewart his first year? 2800 yards and 16 touchdowns in 11 starts is doing pretty darn well.) And Duce and Jerome would be able to go through holes better. I don't know about drafting a running back, because so far as I know, Verron Haynes is still on their roster. And I was very impressed with him during the preseason last year, as it seems he could always get 4 yards on a carry, and catch the ball well. Unfortunately, he did have a fumble or two perhaps, but if he gets that under control, he could be a great running back.
Tommy Maddox isn't bad, he just needs a better offensive line than most quarterbacks to do a good job. And offensive line has traditionally been one of Pittsburgh's strengths. Besides, St. Pierre needs another year to freshen up and get ready, and perhaps we'll see what he can do. No fifth round draft pick is gonna look great his first preseason. But perhaps we could trade Charlie Batch and somebody else to a team for a solid backup quarterback. Batch isn't good in the backup role. Perhaps soembody like Kitna or Couch would give us a good double threat, and also a starter if Maddox is having a bad game or season. But I think he should remain the starter unless he has a bad time.
But top two priorities for Pittsburgh right now: Offensive line and secondary.

Marcus Vick won't be going anywhere but maybe the State Penn after his little run in with the law a few months back.

Don't count on it. College football stars, as well as the pros, seem to have their ways of getting these nasty little details overlooked. It isn't right, but it is the way it is.
