Summit Quest

Shubik showed amazing eye and control from NBA range, but had trouble penetrating cleanly -- got picked a few times. The kid is extremely talented and fundamentally flawless -- but only seems average in speed, IMO. I know it's an all-star type of game, but it would have been nice to have seen a screen or two for Shubik. Let's face it, he was the marquee attraction, but some of his teammates were too busy trying to show their own stuff. Too bad, because had the ball been in his hands a bit more, he would have distributed it. I guess that happens in games like this.

Thought Jim Snyder from Central played well, as did Ty Swindell from Claysburg, who battled gamely. Brad Clapper from Tussey Mountain pulled up lame during the dunk contest, which hampered him. Hope it's nothing serious. It was great to see Lance Waltman from Bedford and Mike Schade from Chestnut Ridge each drain a 3.

Was disappointed that more local people -- students and adults alike -- didn't come out to support their own players. I guess everybody wanted to stay home and watch St. Joe's and Oklahoma State.

Was there for the girls game. The North Squad slaughtered the South by, I think, 30 points. Questioned the MVP selection on both squads, though. All girls got equal playing time, which was nice to see. This was the first Summit Quest game I went to and I was pleased. Hey, by the was, what was the winning number for the $100 prize and did anyone make the half court shot?

I think the winning number was 19, and no one hit the half court shot. I thought Skiles from Richland and Horne from Ridge should have been MVP's, but usually in games like these they give it to the players with the most points.

I thought Ferry was by far the best player on the South team. But the North could of had a few players named MVP. Andrews (who received the MVP award), Maurer also from Johnstown and Skiles from Richland.
