Let's take a closer look at Sports' previous quotes. I think that 999's last message was very subliminal, and to get the true meaning of how 999 really feels, we need to look between the lines.

Pitt is "light years ahead" of PSU.

Also, everyone is a Pitt fan.

PSU has 3 bad years in football, and they are never going to get back to normal.

I couldn't resist. I know you a true blue and white follower and hopefully they turn it around soon. It would be nice if both programs were hitting on all cylinders at the same time so that this debate could really get heated up.

Just one question though, you brought up the fact in a previous topic that Pitt got beat by Kent State, which is very true and probably very hurtful to those "true" Pitt fans out there, but why was there no mention of Penn State's loss to Eastern Michigan in the tournament? I only ask because I know when it comes to posting on here, you are very impartial, and if you were to bring up one school's loss to a less prominent school in the tourney, you would probably bring up the other loss also.

Thanks for the reply to the starting question. Deep feelings always exist when rivalries are involved.

What year was it that they lost to E. Michigan in the tourney? In their Sweet 16 year they lost to Temple after beating Providence and UNC. The last time they made the tourney before that was with Dan Earl, Pete Lisicky and Calvin Booth and they lost to Arkansas and their "40 minutes of hell" motto.

PSU and Eastern Michigan met in the round of 32 during '90-'91. That was the year PSU won the A-10. They upset UCLA in the first round, but lost in overtime to E. Michigan in the second round. Now, that may not have been as much of an upset based on seedings as the Pitt loss to Kent State, but ask yourself or any Penn Stater, do you ever really expect to lose to a team from E. Michigan? Nothing against E. Michigan, but from a Penn Stater's frame of mind, probably not. It is like a Toledo loss in football which Pitt and Penn State have both experienced in football in the recent past. Toledo has a good football program, but coming from those schools, you just don't expect to lose.

I guess the point is that a lot of teams have a loss in their history they probably want to forget, not just the Panthers.

Boilerman brings up a good point there. You can knock any team for losing to someone they shouldn't have, but i guarantee there was a time that your favorite team lost to someone they shouldn't have. That is why the NCAA tournament is so exciting to watch.
