Bobby Jones Film

Post by foghorn »

Anybody know when the new golf movie about legend Bobby Jones is coming out? The previews look good.

Here's a description I found on this film. Advance notice is that it's great. Caviesel, Jesus in The Passion of Christ, supposedly worked for months to get Jones' swing down.

With a strong ensemble cast and inspiring true story, "Bobby Jones - Stroke of Genius" brings golf legend Bobby Jones? remarkable career to the screen. Jim Caviezel plays Jones, the extraordinarily talented but temperamental amateur who took the professional golf tour by storm in the mid 1920?s, eventually becoming the founder of the internationally renowned Augusta National Golf Club and its prestigious annual tournament "The Masters". The beautiful Claire Forlani plays his wife Mary Malone Jones, who raises their children and balances his life out of the spotlight of public scrutiny and pressure that his golf career demanded.

I heard something funny the other day on the Dan Patrick radio show. It seems that when he and his buddies are golfing, and someone hits a bad shot, instead of taking the Lord's name in vain, they just shout "Caviesel!" (Jim Caviesel plays Jesus in Mel Gibson's movie.)

Works for me.

This film got three stars by Roger Ebert, so it's probably well worth seeing. Of course, I doubt if a lot of people will go because of all the other worthless crap that seems to attract so many.

If anybody sees it this weekend, we'd appreciate a short review.
