o, i thought it was alot closer than that, o well. and actually one guy coulda made a difference hypothetically, say windber won the 100, 200, 400 and 4X100, now thro d'con in there and berlin wins those 4 events, thats 40 points from windber and 40 to berlin, making the score 130-129....alot closer...now i know it probly didnt happen that way but its still interesting to think about

Those of you debating wether or not 40 more points would make a difference should also take into consideration that if Berlin did win that first place, in the same even maybe a Windber boy took 6th, therefore they would get no points. The same goes with 2nd, 3rd, etc...

But if Windber took 6th and was bumped down to 7th, then Windber would only have 1 less than their total score. There is no way Windber can lose 10 points in any event by hypothetically putting a Berlin kid in first. The absolute most they could lose would be 4 points in each event.
If Windber is 1st and 2nd, they get 18 points. Say Berlin hypothetically gets 1st. Windber then gets 2nd and 3rd for 14 points. So Berlin gains 10 and Windber loses 4..... a swing of 14 points. Multiple that by 4 events...it could swing 56 points.....which is a sizeable amount. But seeing how Windber beat Berlin by 81, it's not enough to say Berlin could have won with D'Carrion.

Do you suppose that knowing D'Con would be out, with no doubt he would have won all his events, maybe that was a psychological help. If I knew that I actually had a chance at winning, I wouldn't be as nervous. Some people perform terribly under pressure (such as myself) and perhaps Windber wouldn't have competed as well as they did knowing D'Con was there.
It is also possible that my theory is completely wrong and just the opposite would take place.
