Isnt it great to watch all these great defensive matchups? Thats why the East has a chance at winning it all.

Yeah, it's great to finally see a team play some defense in the NBA, but it's exactly what the NBA doesn't want to see. NBA fans (most of whom aren't basketball fundamentalists) don't want to tune in to see 60-56 games, albeit they might have been quite exciting in the end. The NBA wants nothing more than for the brand of basketball teams like the Pistons play, with their hardnosed, defensive gameplans, to become extinct within the league so that their already lackluster viewership will not plunge any further.

no kiddin, they want no defense, high flying, ally ooping street ball crap as a professional sport. thats why i dont buy into lebron, cause the league isnt what it used to be. id like to see this years champs face the early 90 bulls. they wouldnt stand a chance against defense like that.

Id just like to see people who can actually shoot the basketball consistently. Plus there's nothing fundamental about the style of play today.

the nba is gonna follow the nhl out the door of american major sports if it keeps this up. they are trying ot do nothing but appeal to the new generation by focusingon high scoring, defense absent play. the nhl is losing fans and losing them fast, or 3/4 of the league wouldnt be banrupt.

Explain your comment Foghorn. No fundamentals.

I can see what foghorn is saying. Throughout all ranks of basketball the players are striving to become the "best", or play with the "best" in the NBA, so they think they need to lose track of their fundamentals and learn the style of basketball that the NBA hierarchy wants to see. Just look at most high school games these days. A majority of kids (maybe not so much in this area, but moreso in the nation as a whole) try to show off their individual star power rather than play fundamentally sound quality team basketball. The entire basketball world, sadly, is moving towards the NBA and something needs to be done about it. Don't get me wrong, I love seeing a guy fly down the court and lay one down but there comes a time when one tires of seeing dunk after dunk countered by terrible defense.

Each series as of now, I think, is tied at 2-2, which I'm sure is making everyone happy. I still wish Bill Walton would lose his ability to speak for the next 3 weeks, though. To my mind, Doug Collins is the best analyst out there.

ABC made a good decision to put the Lakers-Spurs game on prime time tonight. Lakers win at the buzzer -- great game, well-called by Al Michaels and Doc Rivers.
