And the Dawg is correct, abortion and death penalty do not belong in the same sentence. Apples to oranges there pal.
Lion, first of all, I'm a woman, so don't call me pal, ok? I haven't been disrespectful to any of you.

And I believe a life IS a life, no apples or oranges, PERIOD. And we should be careful with who we play God with on either end of the spectrum, abortion OR death penalty. That is MY belief. I am entitled to it.

Christ did not meet violence with violence or hate with hate. The laws of this country are made by white men. The rest of us women, minorities, mentally challenged, have to work hard to even be heard.

And if you don't have teenagers yet, don't tell me what you would and wouldn't do with a 13 pregnant rape victim. My daughter was sexually assaulted in the 7th grade. Her case was front page news. She was taunted at school because the boys that assaulted her in the bathroom were popular. She was suicidal. She got counseling, too. I won't tell you any more than that.

So don't tell me what you will and won't do till you walk in MY shoes and HER shoes ok?

A jury is not playing God when the sentence someone to death. It's very clearly spelled out in the bible that the government has the power of life and death over its citizens. The only time people are playing God is when they decide to kill and innocent baby.

runner...i'm sorry to say but there ARE moral absolutes in this world. It's not all gray. I'm not saying that every single issue is black and white. Death is something that is pretty well defined though.

A government has the power of life and death over its citizens. But whether it is right is a whole nother story. Hitler used the power of life and death of his citizens. It was known as the Holocaust. About 6 million Jews were slaughtered during that period in history. So yeah, governments have the power of life and death over their citizens. But I doubt God much liked the way Hitler used his power.

And what you say about killing an innocent baby and playing God, perhaps. But what if it was an innocent man that was executed? Would that be playing God, to execute an innocent man?

Runner - I'll first start out by giving you an apology. However, nothing in your posts indicated that you were a female. I meant no disrespect by using the term "pal".

It trully is unfortunate about your daughter, and yes, I haven't walked in your shoes. I hope and pray that whoever did that to her has paid a price. However, don't tell me what I would/wouldn't do. I feel so strongly against abortion that I KNOW what I would do. My posts are pretty clear about that.

I gather from your posts that you are against abortion as well and I applaud that. It is apples and oranges though to compare abortion and the death penalty. You are dealing with the most innocent of life, versus someone that has the ability to know that it is wrong to pull that trigger, use that knife, whatever. And those are my beliefs and I'm entitled to them as well.

Fleaflicker...to be more specific about the verse from the bible...it says that the government is ordained of God to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil....in the pervious verse it mentions that government not bearing the sward in vain...when you actually read it...it's pretty clear that the holocost was not in God's will.

I don't have an exact figure on how many innocent people are executed each year but i woudl wager that it's low if not 0. With DNA testing mandatory in most states it's really diffecult for the wrong person to be sentenced. Even so...the loss of one innocent person is worth getting 100 murderers off the streets forever.
