Dawg - I reread my post and could see how you might have taken that I thought you were liberal. I know that you are not, and apologize for how I worded that. That post was meant for liberals in general. I sure wouldn't want anyone thinking I was a liberal either .
i was thinking along the lines of what el-moldo stated, but as u pointed out dawg i can understand how it would b wrong to compare them with the vikings
Well, if you're the type of Christian that believes in a sharply-defined heaven and hell, these guys will pay the price of eternal damnation. The problem is that we the living want some sort of satisfaction for revenge for ourselves.
"Talk low, talk slow, and don't talk too much."
-- John Wayne
This is true. Eternal punishment is on the table for those who do such acts of violence. They also have a earthly penalty to pay. It is a definite challenge for those who are garnered the responsibility of carrying out justice. We can only hope that we never find ourselves involved with a situation like this.
There are at least 3 instances in the Bible to indicate there should be an earthly punishment. 1. He who lives by the sword shall perish by the sword 2. For he who sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed and 3. the infamous EYE for an EYE. But believe it or not, if the killers repent of their sins, confess them, and accept the Lord as their personal savior, there will be NO eternal damnation for them. For many this may not seem fair or just, but that's the way it is!
BINGO!!!!! Adultry, telling lies, taking the Lords's name in vain, murder. All the same in God's eyes. The unfair thing (in our eyes) about the death penalty is: the killer has time to repent his sins and make things right with the Lord. The person who is killed couldn't prepare himself for death, so where is he today? Is it hot there? So as the Boy Scout's say, "Be Prepared".
