Granted, but that's not the point. The kids who don't care about high school, their grades usually reflect that. Take that same kid, and if he can catch a ball and run a 4.2 40, I bet his grades get alot better.

I would agree that it happens. It really shows when a student is in a different classroom than he/she is enrolled and they still get an A in the other class.

The reason that if you put a kid on the field and tell him to play he has better grades is so that the kid can participate in the sport in which he wants to play. Coaches, at least at Bedford in recent years, have offered and made it mandatory for 'study sessions' after practice with help from other coaches or kids that were excelling in classes that other student athletes were struggling with. Sure there are you other ones that just dont show up and could care if they are on the field or not but i have never in my 3 years of playing football at BHS ever heard of any teacher giving athletes grades so that they can stay on the field every friday night.

Wanna meet a few of these students? I'm sure they will tell you EXACTLY what you don't want to hear. They got free passes thru school and are proud of it. I have at least 3 close friends who played BHS football, and admit they got a free diploma because of it.
