I have watched a couple of movies. Have not read any of the books. My son has recently gotten hooked.

I still find something mysterious about the whole thing that it is so universally popular.

What's so mysterious, they're so popular because they are a version of the most beloved story told by man, good vs evil. The books aren't really popular universally. The US and England are the major hits, I don't think there is any mystery to it. Why was star wars liked so much? It's just a really great story that is enjoyed by millions perhaps billions

Star Wars was probably so popular due to the whole good vs. evil thing.

Exactly, everyone loves a good vs evil. It's the classic story line of all time.

Bedsides the U.S. and England, how much more of the worlds people are educated enough to read and comprehend the books, not saying that the books are tough to understand, but how many countries have over 60% of the population that can read??? Not that many.
