You are right next to a river and have a 5 gallon container and a 3 gallon container. You need to measure out 1 gallon of water. How do you do it?

fill 5 container, empty into 3 container, u have 2 gallon remaning, empty 3 container and pour in 2 gallon from 5 container. fill 5 container again and empty into 3 container leaving 4 gallon remaining, empty 3 container and fill back up from the remaining 4 gallon in the 5 container and you will have one gallon left in the 5 gallon container....

heres a pretty easy one...

you have a fox, a chicken, and a bag of chicken feed and you need to cross a river, you can only take one of the 3 things along with you at a time, but the fox will eat the chicken so they can never be alone together and the chicken will eat the feed so they can never be alone together....how do you get all 3 across without anything being eaten?

gunner your explanation is hard. just fill the 3 up,and dump it in the 5. then fill the 3 up again, fill up the 5. leaves you with one in the 3.

Take the chicken across. Go back and get the feed. Leave the feed, but take the chicken with you. Pick up the fox and leave the chicken. Take the fox across and leave it. Go back and get the chicken.
