State of BleacherCoaches Address--Read and Reply!!!

Post by Coach »

Well, I didn't want to come to this...the site is hitting a crossroad. Will it live on and be a great site, or will it get nailed with the bug that most other sites get nailed with? I came up with the idea for this site over a year ago...I am so happy that Wake has stepped up to the plate and basically does everything with this place. I am basically just a user that tries to keep things going...overseeing things. Well, this has become an issue to users, and I think too highly of myself I'm hearing.

I don't know what to think or what is going on...I am frustrated beyone belief.

I don't intend to call users out....and I am EDITING THIS TO DELETE THE CALL OUTS!

It was about guys that I think you know who you are.

Yeah...many of you guys I consider friends, but you aren't helping me out with all the complaints I've been getting. People feel like the site is losing it, and I don't want that to happen. We are friends, but I need you to be a friend to me and help me with what I'm asking you to do. As you can see....there is tons of antagonizing going on. Please, as friends and users of the site, end the spats that we're all having to endure.

There are lots more of these types of incidents, but these names stick out in my mind (I removed them). Don't swear...show intelligence on a PUBLIC forum. Don't put *** or anything...just chose another word. Don't try to get in an internet shoving contest...it goes NOWHERE...EVER!

If I have users mad...so be it...go post on a crappy board or start your own. There is a way I want things done with the site I came up with. Yes, I'm saying I...I can do that. Roadie, Head Roadie, Wake, and down the line helped me get this bad boy off the ground. They deserve as much credit as I do and more in a lot of instances. There are just certain ways that I envisioned this site....the state of it today...not what I wanted to see. I'd love to see everyone post like Jozey, EagleAlum, Head Roadie, the new Shipwrecked, etc. Posts like that make the site go and induce conversation. The new types of posts just drive people away. I've noticed a lot of good users dropping off...I seem to read 100 posts of junk every day. They might say....go eeeeeeeeeeeeeeers or psu stinks or I hate ridge or shut up, I am right you aren't!

Let's work together to stop all the posting that can be done elsewhere. Do that on IM or somewhere...

Remember this...Internet MessageBoard Tough Guy....
DON'T BE THAT GUY

And one more time...major props to Wake...without him this site would look as plain as a blank word document.

Thanks for reading and let's get back to what this site was intended to be...and that isn't reading 20 messages to get to the 3 good ones intertwined.

Remember to reply when you have read this...add your own opinion if you so choose or just reply with "READ"

If you are wondering what the site was made for:
-talking local sports
-talking about all sports
-general chit chat/fun
-information source
-helping others with information they are looking for
-things like our scholarship
etc....

Now we have games, a Fearless Forecast system, etc. The goods have become more than anything I ever imagined within a year. And again...that is due to Wake! Thanks and that is it...for now....I promise

Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.

Read. I guess I'm just a PSU diehard who gets too sensitive.

I have been a "reader" of this site since its inception and am impressed with a majority of the information presented on a daily basis. I have recently arrived at an employment position in which I think posting would be appropriate and I would like to participate in the discussion of both local and woldwide sports.

Kudos to the founders and the individuals who maintain the "nuts and bolts" of this system for the betterment of all those who read and relate to the topics. As Coach has stated, in one year, much ground has been covered. Some in good taste. Others, not so good.

I suppose you have to expect some of the "garbage" that appears considering you factor in the human factor. However, time will tell if individuals will respond to Coach's plea for a more civilized discussion area as opposed to some of more barbaric remarks.

As is quite obvious, I enjoy writing/responding to the topics on BleacherCoaches. Here is yet another vote to make a concerted effort to clean up the "waste" and continue what I think is a good thing with the potential to be a great asset to the local sports fan base.

Thanks for being patient with my rambling.

Read....we can all be sensitive about certain things that are important to us, but when a nerve is struck try to look from the other guys perspective and remember it's usually just an opinion that's very different from yours. We've all had things posted on this site that get our blood pressure up, myself included....how we react (and I've not always reacted well myself) is what we need to think harder about.

Remember, we are all on this site because we share something, the love for local High School, college, and pro sports so in that sense we are a team and while not condoning or agreeing with everything others post, we should respect their opinions even if we disagree.

OK, I'll shut up now, I've been told I "overkill" things!

Head Roadie

That is that solid teaching/coaching background acquired at IUP coming out in you. Remember, repetition is the key to success.

In my opinion, keep "overkilling it."
