Re: The Black Panthers vs. Juniata Valley
I hate to see this topic get off track, but on the bubble? Coach Foor's first 2 years as a head coach at Northern were rough. We were learning new defenses, new philosophies, and the team as a whole was young. After he had a group of seniors that went through with him as a coach for all 3 years of varsity, we were a 6 win team and made the playoffs and we had a difficult schedule (BG and Mount Union to name a few.) I don't want to make excuses for not winning as many games, but if we would have had the schedule NB had 2 years later, with BG and Mount union ommitted and played williamsburg and Juniata valley, I'm not afraid to say that we would have been an 8 win team. But that aside, Foor has done extremely well at NB....the bubble, haha. in the words of Charlie Brown, good grief.

I can pretty much assure anyone that going into the season and currently during the season Coach Dan Foor is in the most secure spot, football-wise, of any Bedford County Head Coach. My guess is that Juniatalax07 didn't mean anything nasty with regard to his comment but that he has pulled this information from one of the few malcontents that are always out there in any program.
Re: The Black Panthers vs. Juniata Valley
I heard the Jr. High coaches at CR were looking to jump ship and help at Bedford.
coach foor seems very dedicated you see him at nb's jv, jr hi, 8th, 7th, and even norhterns new elementary program not interferring but giving technique advice to coaches to relay to players who's on the bubble who knows look at franco at tyrone what did altoona let go who knows, cr's jrhigh coaches move to bedford not so bedford is AA playing AA AAA schedule while ridge is close AAA playing an A schedule

Re: The Black Panthers vs. Juniata Valley
All I have to say is that NBC played a pretty decent game last night. Granted they did not get the win that they wanted but to hold JV to only 21 points when they have been averaging around 40 says a lot for the program. Noone has done that yet to JV. This makes a statement about NBC football.
By they way, is it me or does Johnny Boyd look like a 2x4 when he runs? His running technique really holds back some speed he could have. Some coaching on his running form would help; besides, when it comes time for playoffs, his speed (which really isn't that fast) will catch up to him in the secondary. Other teams will pounce on him quicker if he breaks through a hole.

Re: The Black Panthers vs. Juniata Valley
Good game played by both teams. NB played pretty tough on defense, and they were in this game enough to have a chance in the 4th quarter. That is what we had hoped for...we were just down a bit too much.

Re: The Black Panthers vs. Juniata Valley
NB had a tough time containing the outside run in the first half. After halftime thougth they completely shut it down. If they only could have figured that out a little earlier I think NB would have come out on top.
Re: The Black Panthers vs. Juniata Valley
The total yards were actually very even as I look in the paper today.

Re: The Black Panthers vs. Juniata Valley
I was a little surprised at the offensive game plan for JV.
It was obvious Northern was committed to stopping the run and I thought they should have been loosened up a bit with spread formations and passing.
Also surprised that Coach Smith insisted on running Boyd outside. He's much better inside and even with Hoffmaster not playing the second half, Basil and Hall are both capable runners with speed.
The defense also appeared very vanilla with very little stunting or blitzing. They stayed in their base defense for the entire game and seemed content to not try to force anything.
I thought Northern's game plan was excellent. They had a nice mix and played inspired, tough football the whole game. A couple of dropped passes may have cost them the game. Another very important play was Garrett Scott's ability to get the punt off after a bad snap. Northern had just scored and their defense held----if Scott doesn't get that punt off, NB gets the ball at the JV 35 with a load of momentum.
And BTW---great stadium, great atmosphere, great place to watch a high school football game!!!!
