it has nothing to do with jealous of your ability or anything like that, i hope he does go to a D1 school as well it would be a good thing for someone that used to be from around here go and succeed i am just laying down the facts that i see on a first hand basis each and every day, i also see a guy that got like 5 or so carries in pitts bowl game a couple years ago. Now hes playing D2 and now hes done for the year...if he gets good coaching he might make it...

What you said is true Largeman. A number of D-2 players have experienced DI competition and due to grades of not enough playing time or whatever they step down (I think at IUP it is part of the ajudication).

Holly will probably disagree with me, but I think they are at least a big handful of guys at DII schools who could compete at the I-A level. Not superstars, but compete. What was the big fullback at PSU a few years back from Chambersburg? Anthony Cleary-Anyway ended up a Shippy U and was a good player, but nothing spectacular. He wasn't a star at I-A, but the point is he was a starter.

Michael will progress very quickly when placed with a higher level of competition. Send a high school kid to college summer camp and then let him return to high school and he will play at another level.

No I agree with you Bedrock but I think a lot of players that play at D-II that could play D-IA football are scared of competition and want some money toward schooling. Some but very few could play at D-IA football and contribute. There are many players at D-IA that are on the scout teams that could star at D-II schools but like the atmosphere of being on a IA team but never ever play.

physical abilities are a great start for a football player. they can get him opportunities that other players w/ lesser abilities cant get. but..

it takes mental toughness and work ethic of unnatural proportions to use the player's physical abilities to the fullest. being able to pass cupcake classes to maintain eligibilty doesnt hurt either...

i'm not being coy. i'm not trying to make a statement between the lines or anything about anybody. guys who are star football players in high school dont just automatically become stars in college because of their natural abilities. also, guys who are not stars in high school can become just that in college through hard work. injuries also cause players to hang 'em up prematurely. just stating the obvious.

I agree with alot of what is being said. Cleary did come to Ship and wasn't anything great. He actually played a little more on the d-line than in the backfield I think. Holly also has a good point that kids are afraid to try IA because they don't think they can make it or need some financial help that we can get at D.II and can't at IA.Bedford county has more kids than people realize that could compete in IA. Not a bunch but there have been a few. Damien Crissey is a good example! Went D II then decided to give D I shot and is doing pretty well at WVU.

yeah and for the most part they are scout team players and will never play but some just like the atmosphere of D-IA football. I personally would like to play and contribute at whatever level.
