Jerry Rice

After playing a severely reduced role in the Oakland Raiders offense, a trade has been made with the Seattle Seahawks for a conditional 7th round pick. Any thoughts on this?

Sad to see possibly the greatest football player of all time reduced to this! Kinda like the thing with MJ. I don't want to remember them like this.

I think it stinks that he asked Steve Largent to "unretire" his #80 so he could wear it. Largent was great in his own right. Would Jerry do the same in SF for someone else?

Glad to see a great player like Jerry Rice still being able to do the things he can do as a WR. I don't like the idea of him taking Steve's # but when you are that great you can do that i guess!! Jerry is the best WR of all-time so I think he can do it!! He has a great work ethic and is tough!!

I was hoping #80 would stay retired!

did Rice ask for it, or did Largent offer it to him?

Well, I have heard that Jerry had called him but, Steve was glad to hand it down to him....of course if someone asks for a number that has been retired and if its a great player like Jerry Rice, they aren't going to say no.....I think the move might be a little better for Jerry, although we all know that his career is almost over, he is like a coach to the players on any team that he is on....he isn't going to be the same Jerry Rice he was 15 years ago.....he is just helping younger players....he can still catch the ball, but I see him as a coach to the other players...

He needs to retire he is way past his prime, He has even talked about wanting to play next year which is unbelieveable. If a crappy team like the Raiders cant fit him in their offense why should the Seahawks.
