Boston Red Sox vs. St. Louis Cardinals

I definitely think they'll hold on to win it. I think its just the year for them to win it. After beating the Yankees, I don't see anything stopping them. Especially now that they have a 2-0 lead on the Cardinals. Pedro is going tonight. It should be a good one.

Pedro came through with the big W. It's now 3-0. It's all over. It will most likely be done tonight. The Red Sox are just too much for the Cardinals. That Cardinals staff is looking pretty bad thus far in the World Series. Looks like that's the major difference in the teams.

hopefully the bozosox can win this and stop whining for a few years! i would'nt put it past them to blow a 3-0 lead just so boston could cry some more.

Wow... the curse is over now... what a dominating performance from the Sox in the WS. They did not trail at all in the Series. The biggest difference in this series was the pitching of Boston.. they kept a potent Cards lineup completely off balance the entire time. The Cards 3-4-5 hitters had one RBI and scored a measley 3 runs in the entire WS. Keith Foulke was lights out the entire playoffs... 1 run in 14 innings against some good teams in tough situations... that man should be the MVP...

Scott Roland (clean up hitter) was 0-15 in the series. That's the worst performance by a clean hitter in the World Series since the early 1900's when someone went 0-21.

I'm happy for the Red Sox. I feel they deserved it after competing against the best team money can buy for so many years.

Now, about those Pirates.......

very strange fact here. according to bill simmons, every boston team has won their first championship against a st. louis team. this of course is not the sox first championship, but it sure does seem like it. the sox were destined to win this series.

that wasnt the same cardinals team i saw beat up on the NL all season. they made mental mistakes. they had no confidence. scott rolen was an out even before he stepped in the batter's box. the sox played great, but i think the pirates could have given them more competition than the cards in that series.

speaking of the pirates, look at these numbers. Scott Rolen in 1997, while with Philadelphia, was a unanimous choice for Rookie of the Year. That season, in 561 at-bats, he hit .283 with 21 home runs, 92 RBIs and 138 strikeouts. In 2004, Bay, in 411 at-bats, hit .282 with 26 home runs, 82 RBIs and 129 strikeouts. fewer at bats, very similar numbers. hopefully a sign of things to come for the pirate's young canadian. that information is from the pirates Q&A with paul meyer on the post gazette web page.

Wow, the Cardinals looked bad the whole serious. They didn't take advantage of the Red Sox miscues at all. Games 1 and 2...the Red Sox had 4 errors in each. You should never lose a ball game when the opposing team has 4 errors. I think the Cardinals were just happy to be there.

I saw an interesting stat on the TV last night during the world series. The team with the best regular season record won the World Series only once since 1995, and that was the 1998 Yankees. The Cards had the best regular season record of any team, but Boston apparently had the better team.
