Excellence, Maybe! Perfection, nope. They are beatable as proven by an overated PO team. I am not saying they won't win Districts! I am just saying I feel there are 4 teams with an equal shot at it. I also think however comes out as the winner will make some noise and have a respectable showing in the state playoffs.

lionline, you know excellence how? Because Ridge scrimmaged Tyrone, you know all about them now. Someday I hope to gain your knowledge and insight. I can't imagine you saw the Bison play yet so how would you know how they stack up to Tyrone. Man if only you were as good as you think you are.

Bedford stacks up pretty darn well. Bedford has more team speed and a nice quick line. If that matchup should take place, it'll be interesting how the ground games go. While Bedford has been opening holes for Young and Harris like can openers tearing through a pop can, Tyrone has allowed only one 100 yard rushing performance against them and 80+ of that was against the JV. Don't take P-O too lightly folks, they are legit. While Tyrone took all 7 of their possessions inside P-O's 30 and never punted, whether the Eagles"screwed up" or not, bottom line is the Eagles only cashed in once. Proving anyone can be beat. If these two teams make the finals, it'll be worth the price of admission. As for the WPIAL, all those great teams don't really matter, we (d-5/6) only have to play one of them. Teams on a pedastal only have one place to go.....

Heck, TYRONE is the team on a pedestal, from the sounds of it...

I changed my mind, Golden Eags minus 11 over the WPIAL AA champ should they meet!

From the sounds of what; I just said Bedford stacks up well(which they do) where do you get the impression that Tyrone is on a pedestal? If there was one, that got knocked out from under them about 4 weeks ago.WPIAL is the top league in the west. But that doesn't mean they are automatically a shoe in for Hershey.

This is an interesting topic because I think that district 5/6 and 7 has the best football in the state. Out of the top 20 teams in the state, 15 of them come from 5/6 or 7. I wonder why for the next two years 5/6 and 7 play in the first round. Teams from districts 9 or 10 wouldn't stand a chance. By the way I find it hard to compare the WPIAL with any district. Everyone knows that the best sports hail from the WPIAL and Aliquippa has an unbelievable team. The Bisons could run with any team in the state, but Aliquippa will be too much for them. By the way, Tyrone doesn't have great speed, and they aren't even close the the speed of the Bisons. All they are is big and strong.

District 1 has the best "large school" AAAA football in PA while I believe that District 3 or 7 has the best small school football in PA.

WT,

YOU are right and also could maybe throw in District 3 AAAA as another tough district as they are combined with 6 as well.

First of all, District 6-A (Bish. Carroll, J.Valley, Blairsville, Bellwood, or whoever) will not play the WPIAL champ unless it is in the state championship game. 6-A is matched with 3-A in state round 1 and in the eastern half of the bracket.

In AA the 5/6-AA champ is matched up with the WPIAL.

Next comment. District 3 is not strong in "A" football and not real strong in AA either. 6 has a great draw. The east in general (other than S.Columbia) is not as strong as the west. If S.Columbia ever comes back to the pack, you could see D6 teams run the table in the eastern bracket 50% of the years that they are located there.

Finally....Duquesne or Farrell vs Berlin or N.Bedford....29.5 points! Well W~T, us District 5'ers will just have to make sure we play the game (it's our choice this year!) in Confluence on a Sat. afternoon and Water the field for 4 straight days before the game so we can slow the WPIAL racehorses down a bit!
