Re: Bin Laden Now Campaigning for Kerry
Well Foggy the undecided could stay home and listen to all those political spam phone calls! I swear, here in Southern Ohio we are getting about 5 a day from every candidate, his wife and kids since the beginning of last month!
If Bin Laden calls and campaigns for Kerry, then I'll really be impressed. ;) Otherwise, I'll have to just consider this particular thread start topic another one of those inflammatory headlines I'm seeing EVERYWHERE now. Bleacher coaches no longer has the market on this junk, I'm sorry to report.
Cheers to you all!
If you want Bin laden and Al Qaeda defeated vote for Bush.
Now that Bin Laden has made a tape, the Bush people are paying attention to him again. He obviously wasn't important enough to finish off before heading to all those Al Qaeda cells in Iraq. If Bush wanted Bin Laden so much, why did he take his focus off of Al Qaeda and place it on Iraq?

Re: Bin Laden Now Campaigning for Kerry
For the umpteenth time, the intel from several countries was pointing to a direct threat from Hussein. Again, put yourself into that situation. One year after the 9/11 attacks and the intel is telling you that Iraq is a threat and may attack at any time, what would you do? Kerry thought it was a good idea to take him out, now he's Monday morning quarterbacking.
And to say we stopped going after bin Laden is false. We still have troops there and they continue to search for him. Right now the pressure is on him and his capabilities of launching another attack of that magnitude are diminished.
BTW - where are all of you liberals now who said that we know EXACTLY where bin Laden is and Bush would produce him in October right before the election? To even suggest something that stupid proves that you people will do and say anything to get a lesser man elected.

Re: Bin Laden Now Campaigning for Kerry
I'm sorry LP, I didn't buy the premise of Iraq being a threat then and I don't buy it now. We got our intel from the Russians and where did they stand on us going to war? Seems to me they voted against us using force in Iraq. How bad could that intel have been?
Maybe we didn't completely stop looking for Bin Laden, but it's very little compared to how hard we went after Iraq. The Al Qaeda cells left Afghanistan and have no doubt regrouped elsewhere (and not in Iraq). I'm not so sure his capabilities of attacking us are greatly diminished. They pulled off the first attack with a limited number of men and no weapons beyond letter openers. Like you said before, Bin Laden isn't stupid.

Re: Bin Laden Now Campaigning for Kerry
But John Kerry believed it, and you give him a pass. Why is that? The Russians opposed the war for the same reasons the French and Germans did - they stood to lose financially if Hussein was toppled. Pretty sick excuse if you ask me. If you believe Europe has our best interest in mind, you're sadly mistaken.
How can you say there ability to attack hasn't been diminished. Funding sources for them have been greatly diminished. al-Qaida used to have a state sponsor in Afghanistan to run their training camps and to launch attacks. That is no longer the case. There are al-Qaida cells all over the world - in France, in Germany, in the US, in Russia (Chechnya), in the Phillipines, and yes, in Iraq. That's what makes this war on terror so difficult and why we have to keep after them. But their central location for training these animals and to coordinate an attack no longer exists. Do you really believe that 9/11 was planned in a cave with little thought? It was planned for years with a lot of thought and money. The problem with John Kerry is if he knows we're in danger, we'll have to pass that "global test" and go through 20 UN resolutions before we can take them out. By then it will be too late. President Bush has demonstrated that if you are a threat to our country, he won't wait for you to attack us, he'll take you out before you can. His leadership is steady and resolute - something that cannot be said for the flip flopper.
Let's see, Kerry said if he had to do it all over again, he would vote again for the war in Iraq. Then he said wrong war. Then asked if we should've went over there, his answer was it depends on the outcome. As a President, you don't have the luxury of waiting to see what the outcome will be because thousands of innocent Americans will have lost their lives by then.

Bin Laden. Wasn't that family in the Carlyle Group that the Bush family was also a part of? I think we're fighting a pointless war, and Bin Laden is over in Pakistan laughing his behind off.
