What was the difference?
What was the difference?
I believe one of the key issues that helped to decide this race was one that none of the experts saw coming. In exit polls, 21% of Americans stated that moral values was a key factor in determining who they voted for. Of those, something like 90% of them voted for President Bush. No one expected moral values to be so high on the minds of Americans. This is most likely why so many exit polls were wrong (i.e. Florida and Ohio).
It's refreshing to see that so many Americans put moral values as their highest priority in voting. As Coach mentioned in an earlier post, our country can't keep going down the path of "do as you please" and not pay a price for that. Many more Americans than I thought also recognized this.
Along the same lines, every state that had the definition of marriage on the ballot voted to define marriage as between a man and woman. Unfortunately, PA did not have this issue on the ballet and it should have. This will only give those who are pushing for this to focus their attention away from states that defined marriage correctly and now focus on states that didn't have it on a ballet yet. Expect an assault on PA by gay marriage proponents in the next few years. This issue must be dealt with by PA and dealt with soon.

Isn't it interesting that back in the 1950s, most states didn't allow interracial couples to marry? That must have been a huge blow to the KKK when states starting legalizing that!

What issue on the ballet? What's all this stuff about a ballet? I wasn't invited.

You can try that comparison all you want, but it is just not the same. And you can try to compare those who want to defend marriage to the KKK, but in the end, that just won't work either.
People in the KKK were hate-mongers, bent on causing harm to those of a different race. Most of the people (not all, but most), defending the issue that marriage is between a man and woman are not preaching hate towards gays. We are simply trying to raise the level of morality in our country and defend the biblical institution of marriage.

Re: What was the difference?
This is a little off the subject that you all are talking about but what's the difference. After reading a few history books and watching the recent movie, "Into the West", I have come to the conclusion that the United States and Hitler can be used in the same breath. We condemned Hitler for persecuing the Jews, which I think he was one of the most evil people in history, but didn't the U.S. do the same to the Native Americans? All they were doing was protecting what was theirs and trying to survive and the U.S. put their backs to the wall so they had to resort the ways of ruthless tactics. I myself am part native and this made me sick to my stomach. This movie was based on factual events.

Re: What was the difference?
So anyways, while we are on the subject of morality, which is more morally correct: disposing of embroyos in a fertility clinic (note the word disposing, which would imply effectively ending their lives at some point, unless I'm missing something here....) or using those embroyos, which would otherwise be wasted, for the greater good of mankind via stem cell research? Is it more immoral to lie about why we are sending 100,000 young men to war, or is it more immoral to lie about an intern giving you a blow job? In many cases, I would say the Democrats have the edge in the morality category.
Besides, if you want morality, are you willing to sacrifice freedom for it? Do you want a republic or a theocracy? Don't many of the Middle Eastern governments make rules based on the Koran, and govern from the Koran? They can freely search people's homes, and anybody found speaking against Muhammad could be killed by the government. Do you want your house to be searched so that the all governing church can make sure you aren't cheating on your wife? After all, what have you to hide, and even if you are, don't you deserve to be punished? Like I said, you can always move to South Carolina....

Re: What was the difference?
To compare Hitler's PLANNED extermination of the Jews, to what happened to the American Indian, is a joke.
