I would rather have 12 team conferences and at least let the teams play for a conference title. 16-20 teams is way too much. What will end up happening is that you'll have all the top talent staying at the top every season, and you'll ruin the ladder system that the NCAA has now. You need to have the Sun Belt as well as the SEC. You gotta give teams a chance to move up and down, like how Marshall went from I-AA to I-A in the MAC and is now already moving into Conference USA, which is another step up.

Persoanlly though I would like to see a bunch of 12 team conferences that play a conference championship. That will make college football better and also keep the ladder system.

I really don't see a quick fix out there though. They (ideas) are all good but still controversy!!
