As of right now, yes, you can only play your schedule. But in a few years you will opportunities to schedule tough teams, and we'll see if you schedule Virginia or Central Florida.

WVU is probably not going to get an invite to the SEC, simply because of geography. You are kinda screwed unless Duke gets the boot in the ACC, and then you might have to deal with Lousiville and maybe even a huge economic base like Penn State, who will probably need to leave the Big Ten before they completely destroy themselves. Vanderbilt and Duke will probably stay where they are though because of academics. Maybe #12 for the Big Ten?

here are the facts.

1. peterson was the #1 player coming out of high school. he did come into a good situation w/ the oklahoma line. although, he had to beat out a good running back in kejaun jones. i agree that the line is huge for any running game, but peterson has broken a lot of big plays that few running backs are capable of. he is one of the top 5 backs in the country.

2. psu can still get good players. even w/ all their struggles, high school guys still want to go to state b/c it is a great place to play football.

3. no body ever said anything about psu being powerful on offense. they have the defense. they dont have a good wr corp. or o-line or offensive scheme. their rb's are fine. mills is a serviceable qb. they just do not have the winning edge right now.

4. its only gonna be a matter of time b4 psu gets back to winning. next week. or next year. or next coach.

5. teddy ginn is a good player. he has shown big play ability. i see him as a stevie breaston type guy. breaston was making plays all over the place last year. this year, teams have focused in on him. his big plays have been limited significantly. both players are explosive and command a lot of attention from opposing teams.

i think that is about it for now.

Here is the reason why I brought up the Peterson vs Ginn question. Peterson reminds me a lot of Clarett, minus the poor attitude. Clarett was dominant against great teams. However, I think Ginn, because of his size and speed, is a more talented player. Two years ago at this time, most people would have put Clarett ahead of Mike Williams from Michigan. However, Williams was a big, strong player and, looking back, he is a much better pro prospect. I would guess that Ginn will be drafted higher than Peterson in two years, even though Peterson has had a better start to his career.

By the way, the difference between Ginn and Breaston is size and strength. Breaston does not have the strength to break tackles the way Ginn does. Ginn is also faster than Breaston, but Breaston is probably more elusive.

fw, i assume you are talking about mike williams from USC...

anyway, peterson vs ginn is an interesting argument. ginn has all the speed in the world. peterson has the all around game at running back. peterson was the #1 player coming out of high school while ginn was #2 in the same year. peterson has done more to date in his ncaa career, so i would have a hard time putting ginn ahead of him. i see what you are saying about the potential factor tho. its impossible to tell where these 2 guys will be in 3 or 4 yrs. their success will have as much to do w/ their mental make up as physical abilities.

breaston vs. ginn is also pretty close. i give ginn the slight advantage b/c of the speed factor eventhough breaston is no slouch. breaston is an inch or 2 taller than ginn and both are about the same weight. breaston has shown more elusiveness from what i have seen. both guys have a good lookin future.

seeing what ginn does for ohio st really emphasizes in my mind how much psu needs derrick williams, basically the same player as ginn.

I think the SEC would like to get West Virginia if they could!! I mean Kentucky is right there below us. the big 10 is not the greatest location for a PSU team either and they are in that conference.

Isn't Morgantown closer to Columbus than State College is?

Yes Morgantown is closer to Columbus than St. College, a lot closer actually but I just don't think the style of play fits West Virginia!! More of a speed type team like the SEC teams!

So wouldn't that give them an edge in the Big 10? Doing something different would make the opposition have to work that much harder in the week before the game. Or would WVU get exposed as a team with a very questionable defense in the face of the pound and ground style in the Big 10, and would their offense get completely dismantled by a team who isn't Temple or Rutgers?

6-5 at best.
